i bought my intake but it will have no carb sticker thus making it illegal in california.. for those who are familliar with law in cali. the only probable cause i can think of for popping the hood in a car to check if its legal is a modified exhaust. now my exhaust is magnaflow, but its nothing loud infact its very quiet you can only hear it if your about 1-30ft behind me but still modified. so you think i will have a problem with the popo? any one else ever have a cop pop there hood? if so and if they found something like this what happend?
reason im so anal about cops is cuz i want to be one my self, other wise id the popo.

 

yeah i had a DC sports Intake which is now owned by AEM, but at the time they didnt have the CARB sticker for it. A few months back the CHP pulled me over and was going to write me a ticket for my exhaust..but i already got it tested by the B.A.R. saying it is below 95 dbl. (https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183709) but they he said...pop the hood...i was like oh great. So he wrote me up for the intake. You are always going to run a chance with something....you cant change anything on your living in cali..err

but im definately also happy my AEM does have that little sticker in case im ever in cali, but then again with TX plates, and registration, they cant write me up for it can they??

hm speakin of no carb stickers. do ssautochrome headers come with carb stickers?

 

i believe not. i wanted to get those headers too but i was thinking "naw, they wont check under the hood" so i still might get them. btw, my car is stock with 18" rims and lowered but im tinted lightly all around so i might attract the police but havent yet. and im young lol

btw, i think its illegal if you lower your car more then an inch because the headlights are too low or something. so my car is already illegal!

 

it's illegal for the headlights to be 18 inches or lower off the ground (or it could have been 22 inches, I forget.)

 

But if that's the only "illegal" stuff you have on your car, I think you'll be OK. Most people in cali do way more shit than that to their cars

 

well siince im gonna do some modifications to my intake to stop the humming (bomz) like mabye wrap it in dynomat. i could try to make it "look" like a stock intake by putting that black plastic thing over it. and when i get ssautochrome headers. keep all the engine make up and the heat sheild about the manifold hiding the the headers. keep in mind this is a "mabye" meaning if i run into to required materials ill get it, and i probably wont go out of my way.

 

I dunno about your application, but at one piont I tried running the stock air intake with the cone filter attached to the end and it worked pretty well, still gave decent power, and it was loads quieter........ in my case the filter was awful close to the battery since the tube didnt extend too far out, but yeah...

 

in CA you get pulled over for anything. i got pulled over for having tinted tail lights. but they just said fix it. also got pulled for modified exhaust and they made me pop my hood. i had my old cai on no carb sticker and had(still have) breathers on my motor and new AEM intake. ive been pulled over many times and for various things
