My new muffler will be here tomorrow.

I just checked UPS's tracking page and my new muffler is in Jacksonville for the night (only thirty something miles away).

How much should it cost to get it installed at a shop? I got one estimate of $60 or less depending on how long it took. Should I shop around for a better rate?

Thanks for the input.

if you're just getting the muffler on, the average price around here is $30....it's a pretty simple and easy job. If you're gonna need some custom piping along with your exhaust, it jumps to about $90-$100.

If you are just soldering on the muffler to your stock piping then $60 is a bit too much. Usually shops like midas charge under $30 bucks to do something that takes less than 10 minutes. If you are getting custom cat back piping that is larger than the stock piping then $60 is an awesome deal. Usually shops charge around $100 for custom cat back piping that is 2 1/4 inches. I paid $130 in Miami to install my muffler with custom cat back 2 1/4 inch piping that was mandrel bent. If you bought the muffler you might as well get the cat back piping. Theres no point in using the restrictive stock piping unless you just want your muffler to make noise and not gain you any HP.

I just paid a muffler shop, northwest of Baltimore $40.00 to remove my stock exhaust (bolts were frozen--needed an impact gun), take NOMAD's axle-back exhaust off of his car and put it on mine, then put on NOMAD's new axle-back exhaust.

Great deal (IMO)!

They may not be able to use your stock piping because the stock muf is an offset inlet. Aftermarkets are typically center inlts.
That's why it may need a new pipe bent. You also may have rust on your stock piping anyhow. Why not just get new piping that'll last longer?
