my homemade intake is UGLY!!

I have a CAI already but i wanted my tube to somehow go all the way to lower grill in order to get more air while driving... I went to home depot and got a 3" alluminum vacuum pip just to extend my CAI after the Filter... Well while i was at it... i ended up replacing my whole CAI with the 3" alluminum vacuum pip with the ends down all the way to the lower grill... and I rapped the alluminum vacuum pip with pipe insulators to keep the engine heat off the intake.... WHen i was done I almost cried when i saw how ghetto that thing looks(Even had to close my hood when my neighbor walks by :P)

Well.. I took it out for a spin... SHit This thing pulls ALOT harder than my CAI!! LOVE it.. too bad it looks like shit...

really??? hrmm i know you would get more response since you put it in direct line with fresh air rather in the tight spot it normally is, but you should take pics of it before you take it off, find a digi, this would be a funny pic to have just to say that you tried it hey did you find someone to help you yet take off your shit?

It really doesnt look that bad. If it was another color maybe, but the black blends. If you could replace the flex hose with 3" tubing, it would work, and look much better. I like the creativity though! Kinda like the aerospeed kits. Has anyone ever ahd one of them?

Did you wrap the filter also? I would of used that auto heat wrapping that they use on hot rod headers....the kind that looks like gauze bandage. That would look muscle. What happens if you dodn't warp the filter?

I basically rapped the tube near the engine only because i wanted to keep the engine heat off the tube... the filter i didn't rap because i figured it wouldn't get much heat due to itz location anyway...

My logic of rapping is...
If the insulator keeps heat in... it should also keep heat out... Even when it is saturated with heat... the inner side of the tube would cool much faster due to the fact that cold air is directly forced in from the lower grill...

Hmmmm....so some flexible 3" aluminum piping, K&N universal filter, few clamps, and automotive insulation wrapping huh?
