My car is over heating

My car has been over heating lately but i can't seem to find out what it is. I look to see if maybe it was that it had a raidiator leak but it doesn't seem to be that. And the hoses seem good to does any one have some type of idea on what it my be?

Check to make sure your fans are running properly, it more than likely is your thermostat though.

yeah i since it is winter even if ur fans didnt work i doubt u would overheat. i would bet ur thermostat is stuck closed and no engine coolant is getting to ur engine.

Could be a bad water pump.

Did you check to make sure you have enough coolant in there to begin with?

if u are not loosing any coolant it is likely your water pump or thermostat. If u are loosing coolant out of your reservoir it is probably a head gasket. I would get it looked at so u don't cook a head gasket because of a sticking thermostat.

also if u are loosing coolant it could be your radiator cap not holding in the pressure.

I had a couple overheats... 2.2... I flushed the fluid and got a new cap- overheated again... then i changed the thermostat- it overheated again... Then i did nothing and it hasn't overheated since... Works for me!

Well you guys certainly know what you are talking about. I had the same problem with my wife's Honda. I replaced the thermostat and rad cap, and the problem is gone.

I blew my head gasket and my oil was mixing into my cooling system which caused my radiator to crack and my motor to take a swan dive off the edge. I replaced my radiator thinking that it was just cracked and ignoring the diaria looking substance running within. that caused lots of problems. That was not fun cleaning. Make sure there is no oil in your cooling system. Catch up with it before it catches up with you.
