My brakes are retarded!!

hey guyz! i just got new brake pads on my front wheels.. but it still makes a loud screeching noise whenever i hit a bump or turn a little too hard.. where is this brake indicator? i wanna rip it off.. haha.. any suggestions?? the pads are genuine honda....

what do i do?! what do i do?!

Did you put lubricant on the back of the brake pads when installing?

well this might be wrong, but it either you have to brake in those new pads or your rotors are warped. if not then i dunno.

arent there supposed to be some shims that go with the installation to prevent that squeak from happening during normal proper usage?

I concur. The stuff is called Anti-Squeal Brake Paste/Lube. It's like a silicone paste. I think it's vehicle specific. I haven't been able to find any for our cars. It was all for like Benz's and BMW's.

i put that stuff on with my pads.. it comes with the brake pads at the dealership.. man.. it still makes a horrible noise.. and its making it while im just driving now.. haha.. im talking with a mechanic tomorrow..

hope its not costy

did you resurfaced them? dont think it could be but it'll help...or just bend the indicator back out...

Indicators are a part of the brake pads. One per pair, usually.

You installed the pads, yet you didn't see the wear indicators? Maybe your pads just don't have one.

do the rear brake pads have the indicators too? i havent changed my rear pads in a long time..

Don't forget to reset your pads.

start the car and pump the brakes and pull the ebrake about 10 times. Not too quickly or harshly though.

I had a rock get in my rear brake like that. No damage to my rotor though.
