msd cap

does anyone know if msd sells a distributor cap with external wire for a 2.3 cl... because i bought the wrong one thinking the 97-97 accord ones would fit.. on the 2.3 inside the distributor cap there a protruding thing that sticks out that goes in a hole in the stock cap..but on the msd cap theres no hole that the protruding thing can go in...can someone help thanks

I just went on NOPI and they had it for the F22 but not the F23..So i dont know.

check the MSD site.. they came out with one for the F23 if I'm not mistaken...

that thing protruding is the conductor from the stock coil. The stock coil needs to be removed for the MSD dist. to fit. The 94-97 Accord dist. should fit just fine... the F22 and F23 are almost identical motors. To get the stock coil out, you need to pull the cap seal out, which will reveal 2 openings to get to the screws that secure the coil. Once the coil is removed you need to determine the polarity of the coil wires... use a test light with the ignition on and see which one has power. You'll need to run a pair of wires from these coil power wires to the new coil, I just poked small holes in the rubber seal and ran the wires through that... run each wire through its own hole so the rubber seals against the wires, you dont want moisture/water getting in there.

The 2.2 wont fit because they have a different distributer. The msd part should be MSD-82943. MSD announced it over a year ago and the expected ship date on summitracing keeps moving to a later date, dont know if any are actually available yet.

Your right. I have the magazine and it has it listed here with a part number of 547-8294 which isnt on the site. Hmm.

Rotor
Cap
External Coil
Wires
Blaster
Ignition Unit

What am I missing ?
