just hook the switch up to the remote wire for your amp...it should be the only small guage wire attached to the amp.

however, some amps don't trigger with this, I had run a toggle switch for a while, but mine was a fix, so I got a new amp and no more problems.

Here's what I did, get a GOOD switch, has to be a 20 AMP or u will blow it, run a remote line from your battery into the switch input, then simply run another wire back to the remote jack of your amp, you then have an inline switch

Is it always on? If wired to your remote trigger, it should turn off when your amp turns it off, in which case, u should be able to control the trigger through your head unit. If not, do what I did and run an inline switch, just make sure to put it somewhere that it won't get bumped.

ok so use the same kind of wire to run to the battery as the remote to the amp? is that right? and i was thinking about putting a toggle switch under the deck in that stock compartment that the cl's come with. i dont imagine that getting bumped on accident.

I used a thicker wire from the battery to the remote / switch I believe a 16 or 18 gauge, need to get power there somehow

Why would u guys run a wire from the battery with a switch to the amp remote input (to turn it on and off)? Power wire from battery to amp power input, then remote wire from HU to the amp remote input. Amp will come on/off when HU is on/off.

Are you using the stock HU? If you have an aftermarket HU with a harness its usually the blue wire that's on the harness. With the stock harness, i'll have to look into it or so a search on the forum. Sure someone have posted it. But there really is no need for a switch to turn it on/off everytime yourself

also dont run a wire directly from the batt to the remote on the amp.. if you have a stock head unit, use a fuse extension and use the fuse for the windshield wipers or the cigeratte lighter.. they only come on when the car is on. if you have an aftermarket deck, youve got something hooked up wrong.. unless you dont have a remote wire, in which case youve got a 1992 sparcomatic tape player and its time to upgrade....pimp..
