More Issues

As some of you know I just had my transmission rebuilt on my 1998 3.0 by Aamco. After it being in the shop for an additional 27 days, I picked the car up today. Besides the rebuild, they have replaced:

*Computer
*Wiring Harness
*Speed Sensor

Driving the vehicle back to work today, I pulled up at a light and the D4 light began blinking again. I did not have a check engine light. This was also what began happening before the transmission went out the first time.

Are there any suggestions or things that I may have them look at that is causing this? I have also noticed that the shifts seem to hold a bit too long. Is there a break in period for this where all of these symptoms go away?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I really think they were picking at straws in replacing all of that.... thank god it wasn't at any cost to me. They really had no idea what the deal was with the car, hence them having the car for over a month total.

In driving the car just a few minutes ago, there is now a bit of a "quiver" type feeling between the first and second gear shift on some starts. That to me feels like the torque converter. Also when pulling away from the bank, there was a definite jerk from park to 1st that was never there before. I guess I know where my car will be heading back to...

It's not really about getting things fixed for free... it definitley hasn't been free.

Renting cars isn't cheap... especially for a month and being under 25. Being lied to by the shop hasn't been the most pleasant experience either.

After driving it again, I have also found that a 1/3 of my dash lights are no longer working and the jerking is getting worse. I don't see this rebuild lasting another month the way the car is acting now.. $2500 for a month of use definitley isn't cheap or easy.

see if you find another aamco, sounds like the one you picked sux :S

i had most of those problems on one of the rebuilds they did and i took it back the next day, they had installed some sensor backwards and fixed it in no time.

Nah... I was considering doing a swap into a 5 speed though... I'm tired of driving auto and I'm tired of dealing with all the issues I've had getting this car fixed.

Then again, I could buy a TSX or a TL in a year and be 50 times happier with the 6 speed.

Everytime I have had to deal with the Acura dealership here, they have been nothing but helpful. That has just been my expierence though.

Acura has been great, I can't complain about them for the most part.

Aamco is a completely different story though... my car is f***ing up majorly again.

Is there any way you could take it to Acura, have them fix it, then take that bill to Aamco and have them pay you for it because they screwed it up?

Aamco says that if anyone else works on my car it will void the warranty. Considering the fact that they have also messed with my wiring harness and my computer (for whatever reason I DO NOT understand, it didn't fix anything) , I'd rather have the warranty in place in case something decides to fail with either of those.

Must be nice, my local acura dealer is such an overpriced, cluster fawk that I will never go there again. They'll charge you to "diagnose" find nothing wrong with the specific problem I had, then try to sell/charge me for 10 things that weren't broken. That's cuz it's in the middle of yuppy central though, and the dumb yuppies bite on it, I don't. After my brake system failed for the second time while i was driving, I took it to them, they raped me, didn't fix the abs problems, and I told them that if they didn't fix it right (didn't fix it right the 1st time and I almost died) that I was going to drive with no brakes straight to their dealership and park it through their glass windows, on their showroom floor cuz I couldn't stop, after that I divorced my ack dealer, dumped that bitch and never looked back

Wow, that sucks. Everytime I took my car there, they would look at my car for other issues as you stated, but never pressured me to fix them. Just told me what they were and how much it would cost. After I said,
"No, ill do all that myself" They said "Cool" and that was that, no more mentioned.

Now granted I have not taken my car into them for really much of anything. When I first got it, I took it in so they could replace the rotors, then my window regulator, then I got a Acura thing where you could take it in and they would look over it. They told me that they found nothing wrong with my car asides from the CV boots (which I knew about). They didnt even give me a price for them to fix that. They just "Here ya go, looks good" Which I responded with a quick "Really?, what do you mean?"

I honestly had the 2nd best car buying expierience there as well. I told the guy my situation (if you remember seeing picks of my rolled ass Accord). This is exactly what he said "I know what your going through, Ill show ya what we got, with the things that you are looking for inyour next car purchase. He took me over to the CL. I test drove it, and still wanted to look at other options. He says, I know you are looking, Go to a few other dealerships and see if you can find something that you want, if not, Come back and we'll work out a deal." Needless to say I almost bought a sentra ser spec v. But was so impressed by him, I bought the CL from him.

a 2.2. 5 speed isn't going to fulfill my need... I'd rather trade my car in, take what they valued it at ($1500 more than I owe) and go get a TL.

BTW, it decided to slip on me twice this morning... I've already taken bets that the tranny is dead before Halloween.

Thankfully I'm good at this and I really don't give a shit what I say to the owner of this Aamco. I'm tired of being screwed around and being told this 8 year old car is "complex"

How in the hell can an 8 year old car be "complex"... There is NOTHING complex about that car.
