Moon roof air deflector

As the new owner of a 99 3.0CL I have to find some good places to buy parts and accessories.

The first thing I'm looking at is a moonroof air deflector. Do these things really make a difference in the noise level with the roof open? How do you install them?

I love mine! It does help reduce wind noise (plus helps deflect direct wind flow into the rear seat) which is a plus for my 4 y.o. daughter).

Mine installed with 2 clips. No drilling necessary. The clips fit on the underside of the moonroof sill and hand tighen with screws (friction).

This is the one I have: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33652

eBay is a good place to look for aftermarket parts.

These are some good OEM resources:

They do make a difference... you'll notice quite a bit less wind noise. The instalation depends on what one you get... I recomend the factory honda/acura ones, as they are the only ones that are not permanant. The aftermarket ones mount with double-sided foam tape... meaning they are "peel-and-stick". The stock ones mount with 2 clips, that hook onto the lip of the moonroof opening... then 2 screws go through the visor and through the clips to hold the visor in place. When the moonroof is closed, it is very hard to get at the screws to remove the visor... so theft shouldnt be a big worry.

I have the factory wind deflector on my CL. I really like it. There is very little wind that gets into the car. It also cuts down on the noise greatly. I took it off one time to see if I liked it, and I didn't!! I would suggest getting the factory acura for sure. I had mine installed on my car when I bought it. I think it costed about $115 when I bought my car which was in May 1999. So, I am sure you can find one alot cheaper than that !!

No, you can't see any of the mounting hardware on the outside. All you can see is two screws on each end of the deflector. The brackets are like a clamp that clings to the underside of the sunroof. The screws tighten the clamp. Very easy to install. Don't be stupid like I was and have the damn dealer do it !!!!!

I took mine off. I tested it before and after with no difference in noise or wind differences. To me it makes our car look cheap and like a altima or something.

My two kids ride in the back of mine all the time with no wind problems.

It has pros and cons.

It does reduce wind noise when the sunroof is open completely. Even though It's not really bad without it either.

However, it actually increases wind noise when the sunroof is cracked open to vent. I usually take it off in the winter when I'm less likely to have it completey open and more likely to vent when it gets to hot in the car.

Agreed! I forgot about that aspect as I rarely just crack open the moonroof, but open it completely.

I thinks it's definitely worth it!

I took mine off too. Thar car already has an integreted deflector mechanism. The dealer gave it to me at no extra charge, but I really did not want it; it was already installed though. 5 mins and it was out.

And please, dont say Altimas are cheap; I own and SE too !
