I have had my car almost a month now and i am dying to hook my shit up with some nasty stuff, i have decided against getting rid of 'the seam', but now im more corcerned about gettin more motor for my buck. im not goin h22, too much work, sweat, hassle and my dad would whoop my ass cuz my whole selling point for the car is the motor will go forever. i have seen cam gears, underdrive pulleys, and cams heres my ? my dad used to run dodges back in the day and he said any type of mod like that kills gas mileage because ur changing how the motor deals with the power ur givin it so like if i bought low end cams my mpg on the highway would die. has any one put cams, gears, pulleys in theri car? if so did u mpg go down? what brands would u recommend? are those mods a bad idea for a motor with 111k on it?

 

I don't think it's a bad Idea, but your dad's right. changing to a more aggressive cam would indeed lower your mpg. this is because the more air you put in the more fuel you'll need to burn.so get a fuel press. regulator(you should get larger injectors when changing a cam if not, your gonna have a new set of problems )

 

Don't waste the money, esp on a 4cyl.

Get ya a nice stereo, some HIDs, and enjoy the car.

 

engine mods for me are last, not really worth spending the money IMO

 

CAI or short rams sound sweet, but then everyone around you knows you are WOT and notice how slow you are going.

I love watching these civics just wail on the motors with their intakes and fartpipes - louder than a fucked up jet engine - yet a bum on a bicycle with bent wheels is passing them.
