Meguiars Clay Bar

I was planning on ordering some Zaino clay stuff this week, but today at Advance Auto Parts, I noticed Meguiars has a kit that comes w/ clay and some wash (to lubricate the bar). Has anyone tried this or have any idea if it works the same as Zaino? My thinking is that clay is clay, but does anyone know for sure?

i used a clay bar my Mothers, it was the best thing i could have done besides a paint job. I don't think the prev. owner of my car took good care of the paint, was a bitch to wax and was never smooth when i did. I used the clay bar over the whole car and its nice and glossy and smooth like glass when i wax it now.

My friend is a detailer and clay is clay. After you clay a car you should go over it with a mild abrasive wax that takes out swirles. The clay is not the greatest on paint. Then go over it with a polish or a polishing wax. They say that Zaino is awesome, but I don't feel like putting all that time in for now. I have heard that Zaino doesn't protect your car from bird crap and bugs, it eats through the wax. I use Meguiars Gold or Liquid Glass.

Clay is for removing crap that's embedded in the paint. The car will feel as smooth as glass afterwards. Paint cleaner is for removing light scratches, oxidation and swirls. Polish is to make it shiny. And finally, wax is for protection.
