Lowering??? Please read.

This probably has been posted many times, but since search is disabled, I thought I would ask for some insight.

I would like to lower my '97 2.2 CL just enough to remove the wheel gap. I've heard of the PROkit and KONI, but I don't know where to start.

What would I need lower my car without screwing anything up. Any good combination of springs, shocks, etc???

Prokit

I am running 18" w/ the eibach prokit... if you want a good ride, stay away form coilovers, they feel like a skateboard.... copy & paste the link in my sig for pics of my car w/ the prokit on it....

Most people get the Eibach Prokit because they don't want the really lowered car...but they also want to get rid of the wheel gap...As for shocks...a lot of CLers like the KYB AGX shocks...or if you wanted to pay the money you could get koni yellows which are top of the line for shocks...

If you get an Eibach or Neuspeed spring kit, do you NEED or HAVE to get new shocks? What would happen if you just left the stock ones on there? Anyone seen good prices on Eibach? I have been Neuspeed for $129.

Your shocks would most likely blow...I know there are exceptions to this...but they will probably blow...and also if you were going to get a shop to put em on...and then ur stock shocks blew..you would just end up paying double labor to put on new shocks...so in my opinion it would be better to just save up the $ for springs and shocks...

Ok so if I need shocks to go with the coils... what do they run?

It is never just a one step process for ANYTHING!

I have coilovers on my CL and the ride is just fine. What exactly are you basing your blah opinion on? I don't know about you but the fact that I was able to adjust my drop exactly the way I wanted it is a good thing in my book. Once I dropped the car the way I wanted it I never messed with the coilovers again. I got a camber kit for the front and back aligned and its just perfect. The ride is not bouncy, basically I have no complaints.
Theres no way you could tell if I springs or coilovers on my car with out jacking it up so what exactly makes coilovers bad in your opinion?

just because you have a peice of metal below you springs with coilovers doesn't mean your car is gonna ride any different. with springs you still have a peice of metal @ the bottom (struts?) so there is no difference...just that with coilovers you can adjust the height of the car....or My friend had springs and he just got the same coilovers I have, his ride didn't change @ all....

With the PROkit, what else did you have to buy? I don't know much when it comes to this subject.

Wow, very nice car. I really like the colour. What kind of skirts are those? Are they factory? and if so, how did you paint them? I really want to paint my factory skirts but I'm worried becasue they are plastic.

It's actually rather informative and provides the basics for someone (no pun intended) who is not an expert in the area of automotive suspension.

If I remember, the author (Lord Accord) is an industry professional.

If you want to actually "lower" your get coilovers, that way your car actually looks lowered, as opposed to pro kit that doesnt do anything but waste your time.

And throw some koni adjustables to even out the ride

Just dont be a pussy and drop it an inch, thats nothing

coilovers...

SOrry I wasnt trying to offend anyone, just from the cars that I have ridden in with coilovers, they feel horrible... like they are on roller skates... Although I will agree that if you get 17's I wwould get the sportsline kit... 18s or 19s look good with the pro kit... just my opinion though...
