Looking at buying 97 2.2 CL

Hey all,

Looking at buying a 5-speed 2.2 CL with 85k miles on it. I'm getting a pretty decent deal on it but I have some questions.

I am used to driving a '99 3.2 TL, how does this car compare as far as speed and feel? I know it will be a slower car but how much slower are we talking?

Also, I know this was the first model year of the CL, were there any major problems with this run that I should be aware about?

I'm looking at the car again this Friday and will make my final decision. The Acura dealer said that they'd look at it for me for $90, should I go ahead with this (I'll probably ask the seller to cover this cost)?

I got the carfax report done on it and it looks fine. Been in an accident but it seems like it was something minor (the owner mentioned that it had been in a fender bender) and it also seems like service was done quite sporadically but I'm not worried about that too much.

All I'm really interested in doing with this car is driving from home to work but I really enjoy driving so I want something that's still fun to drive. I will probably do some minor mods to it (new stereo for sure, intake, exhaust, headers, lower, etc.) Is there a decent aftermarket for this car or is the aftermarket mostly geared toward the gen 2 CLs?

Sorry if I asked any questions that have been asked before and I appreciate all your help.

how much are u getting it for? auto CLs are the ones u gotta worry about, but the 5 spd ones have decent power throughout 1st and 2nd... then it dies. The car is the exact same interior as a 94-97 accord, except it has climate control. Power wise compared to the TL, u have 1 whole liter less... that is quite a bit, but that means better gas mileage? seems to be reasonable right now. The aftermarket for the car is alright, it's whatever you can do with the f22. Like i said, it's pretty much like a 94-97 accord. Hope this helps a little. GL

its a little more refined than a 94-97 accord (woodgrain look, leather interior, power windows etc.)

Its alot less powerful than a 99 TL (unfortunately) but its still fun to drive. The power you feel in 1st and 2nd gears is the tq the car has (147 lb./tq.) more than most Honda's at the time.

The aftermarket for this engine is not that bad (intake, exhaust, header, pullies, throttle body, etc. <-- examples of baic bolt ons for you to choose from.)

How much is this CL being sold to you for?

Hey thanks to everyone so far but I was just wondering if you guys think it's worthwhile to go ahead and get the car inspected by Acura.

Thanks

alright we got acura to inspect it. front rotors need to be machined and it has a small oil leak. we told him to take off $500 and we'd take it but im starting to wonder if a car that leaks oil will be reliable plus, isnt it almost $1000 to replace gaskets?
