Looking to buy a '97...

Well, I'm new here.

I am looking into getting a '97 2.2CL as my daily driver.

When I go look at them, what should I look for? What are the trouble spots?

Any other important info I should know about?

Thanks guys!

If you're getting the 5-speed, then just look for regular maintenance records, check the condition of the window regulators (motors--they tend to go bad), if it's over 90K miles (don't know the kilometer equivalent ), make sure the timing belt and water pump have been replaced). The front brake rotors are a bitch to change, so make sure you have plenty of rotor left (or make THEM replace the rotors). Otherwise, the car is pretty reliable.

If you get the automatic, make sure that there are no obvious shifting problems. The 3.0CLs, and the 2001+ CLs (3.2s) have significant tranny problems.

Good Luck! The CL is a great car!
