ok ok guys.. does anyone in here have their heat shield painted.. the one that covers the header.. because I'm planning to get a new header and would love to show it by taking out the heat shield but it will fade the paint on the hood since it gets so hot.. so I will not take the heat shield out.. although I want to show the headers.. so if you got your heat shield painted.. show me pics.. would love to see one.. thanks..

 

i really don't think your hood would get any damage from not having a heat shield. The header is in the very front and there should be enough air comming through to cool it down. You don't see any heat shields on aftermarket headers do you? Or any cars w/ aftermarket headers?



Also, if you are gonna paint it make sure to use High Temp Paint, otherwise it's just gonna flake off.

 

I have mine painted blue...I dont have pics of it yet cause when I took it off, two of the three bolts broke and I have to get them out before putting it back on...To big of a job and I'm to lazy this weekend...

OH COME ON, STOP BEING A JERK! The thread has been closed, leave it in the past. It looks like PureCrazed has gotten you beat in the mod category anyway.
As for painting and the heat sheild, i think that we have one to somewhat control the temp under the hood, ie, to cool down the intake manifold, i dont think that it keeps the hood's paint in check. Also, i think that Dust has hs heat sheild removed, not positive though. It seems like a good idea to paint, but i would only paint it flat black, the thing is ugly as hell, why emhasize it with a color

 

i dont think aftermarket headers have mount to put the heat shield on. well mine didn't

 

I haven't seen any screw holes on aftermarket ones...

oh ouch sar...god, that really hurt there buddy...Man, your so much cooler...but I'll just take my STOCK CL and move on to a new thread ok...sorry to inconvience you...
