I bought a 1997 CL 3.0 (50K miles) two months ago and am pretty happy, but....noticed today that it started making a loud moaning noise when backing out of my driveway. Appears to be coming from the rear of the car and lasts for as long as you back up.

I checked the other posts on the board, and no, I don't think this is the ABS pressurization/diagnostics issue. Any help here? I'm taking into the dealer, but thought I could get some advanced help.

 

Tranny noise would be in front of you. Could it be something with the exhaust. Maybe a tire rubbing something like a mud flap/gaurd thing. Not much help, I know.

 

Fuel pump maybe? You said it goes away when not going backward? Or does it go away w/ time?

 

my car does it also. but only if u back up agressively. i just dont do it and it doesnt happen. when i took it to acura they said it was my brakes and wanted 400 to resurface them. but they are wrong. they are right hat i need new rotors but thats no the prob.
