Lil brown box in the trunk :)
Enough of the suspense, here's a few pix (before anyone even thinks to ask!):
Just couldn't wait to take a few pix of a lil brown box that I've been anxiously waiting to arrive for my CL.
Fresh and clean, sealed for freshness
Virgin coilovers....
Here's my baby as she looked one last time, in 4x4 mode outside the local garage!
I'm pickin her up later today, need to wait for the springs to settle and probably an alignment a bit later too

yeah took me a year to finally get 'em -- been debating picking up used springs w/ shocks through several local forums, however the prices always ended up not much cheaper than the F&F -- so I bit the bullet!

thnx I've been itching for a drop for the past year, so I finally went for it!
My mechanic asked me how low to go, I said we'll start with a 1.5" drop -- or about 1 finger gap (I can't go much lower cause its my daily driver!)

Here are a few more pix after the drop.
View of the Sustec lower front tie bar that was installed while on the hoist
So far its a bit of a firmer ride compared to the stock/OEM, however boy do I need to drive s-l-o-w-e-r....while leaving the garage parking lot, the speed bump almost claimed my ceramic header!

You'll love the sustec brace, I have one and they're very nice. Drop looks sexy, but rear seems higher than the front to me. Drop looks incredible though. Those are sexy coils

i'm gonna let it settle then go from there, my mechanic says to pick up a camber kit....so thats on my shopping list along with rims & tires, although i kinda like the stock rims?
thnx again on the compliment, i've been inspired by so many of the guys on here to do things to my whip -- even forgoing a nice size LCD TV (since moving we moved to new place, my GF & I still don't have TV since March!!!)
97BlackAckLCL -- i'm kinda itching towards doing retro on the headlights, but since this is daily driver and i work 7-days/wk with GF it makes it hard...

Just mentioning though the stock ride is gone, so whenever there's dips in road, its firmer.....but not bouncy -- wife hasn't noticed yet (so I got a big ass grin on my face right now)

Invent in a set of tires every 1.5 years, buy from the States cheap and get it shipped to the border for pick up.
currently i'm dropped down 1.5" all around....mechanic says to keep an eye out and check back in 2 weeks after springs settle...

let me put it this way....If you're low enough to need it, you're gonna run into the strut tower banging issue.

^Well, if you have bad camber (usually caused by lowering) it'll eat through your tires quicker. Camber measures how straight your tires are on the pavement. If they're toe in, out, or off in any other way, the tires will meet the pavement at an awkward angle and cause that part of the tire to wear quicker than the rest of the tire. Not to mention, there's more friction on that part than there should be because that'll be the only area on the ground.

I feel low in 4x4 status after driving my 4runner for so long, I hit a metal bridge seperator this morning on my way into work and thought I ripped my axles out

Imagine when I take my wifes car (trusty ol 98 Suzuki Sidekick Sport JLX 4-dr) -- man thats 4x4!
I do notice the ride definitely is firmer since getting the coilovers, so that when I hit a series of "ripples" I notice the rebound isn't as muted as stock OEM ride.
Overall its great so far, I seem to hit the corners more faster and tighter, although now I just found out that my rear left tire is developing a bulge along the outer tire wall!!
I guess this will have to speed up the process of upgrading rims & tires then
