Lesson learned
So last weekend I was stuck in a parking lot not to far from my house. Car had been running fine, no issues. Came back from a haircut, hop in my ride and i get a no start, no crank issue.
Seriously stumped and mad (it was my gf's bday and I hadnt gotten her gift yet). In the parking lot I removed the starter with finger nail clippers, an avocado and a tooth brush.
Walked to the auto parts store had the starter tested. Passed. Walked to another parts store, tested, passed.
Re installed starter, figuring it was an ignition issue I just kept trying it. Finally i got something and headed home.
Got home and again a no start. I spent 2 days chasing wires, relays, fuses, pumps you name it. Finally i just bought a new starter, popped it in and havent had a problem since.

Been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt.
Basically 1 of the gears in your starter was ground down. If you kept cranking it, it would eventually start. But if you have the new starter, you should be good to go.

Hey have u tried that recall on ignition module underkneeth your steering wheel?
I learned that the hard way. One way to start the car is to get a 12 gauge wire and jump your constant power terminal amd your signal terminal on your starter. Nothing wrong with the starter. The key nevernsends the signal to the starter to turn on...

I have a safer and easier way to eliminate the relay under the dash. Disconnect the Negative wire on the starter, use a voltmeter at that wire end, and the negative side of the battery, if you get voltage the starter is bad. if you arent getting any voltage your starter isnt the problem, check the relay.
Got this tip a little late for a great mechanic.

Sounds like what happened to me recently, just my starter sounded like a dying cat or something lol. I gave it a few good whack's with a pry bar and it would temporarily fix it. Finally replaced it today, was pretty easy even with recovering from a broken arm.

Or maybe three jobs. One in a ambulace as an Emt. One teaching parkour and gymnastics and finally dietary aid at our hospital. Thanks for judging though. Hope you make it through life the way you judge others. Never know who may show up to your car crash. Just saying.

You must really suck at all three of your jobs if you dont know the difference between making a comment and judging someone. Please dont show up to my car accident, send the guy that actually knows what he is doing please.
Dont be so defensive, its ok to live in mommies basement.

+1 On ignition recall! and those tests that they do at autoparts stores; can't really be conclusive. They just run power thru the starter; but you can't be sure unless you do a physical exam on it as well as go thru the car itself.

Yep, goin thru that issue now!! it freaked me out 1 night when i got offa work i turned, no nothin.. knew it wasnt a power issue... i figured it was too cold for the remote start to kick on.. but when i physically got in it just did a clicky sound!?!? i was bout rdy to ish bricks!! but a cpl mins later it started up and i booked it home. it has a small lil issue every now n then, but i needa stop sluffin and get that issue addressed!
