Left Lights Not Working

Ok here's the deal. One of my High Beam bulbs died on the left side, so I decided to order some new Nokya high/low bulbs. When the High bulb died I REMOVED the bulb and just left the harness sitting there. It was about 2 weeks before I got the new bulbs in the mail.

I installed the new bulbs, right side was FINE. The left side, at first only the sidemarker and low was working. After about 10 minutes the ENTIRE left side was not working (sides, low, high's). Only think working on the left side was the turning signal assembly.

So what happened to the left side? Is my harness fried? Only thing I can think of is that water got into the loose harness and shorted the wires out. Itsa not the bulbs as I switched them with the working side and they work fine.

Any idea's?

I was thinking water too. I have the stage 2's and had no problems. It's either your harness, or perhaps a fuse blew. But if part was working then fried, it could be either, but sounds like a harness. Check all your light fuses first.

Not fuses, checked left/right and then the side marker fuse inside. All fine.

I guess harness? How much is a replacement harness?

Okay I couldn't fix it so I brought to my mechanic.... get this BS.

I went to my mechanic and asked him for some help, we started looking at the lights togeather, he asked about my bulbs and I said they were fine. He even pulled them out and checked them, they were not blown. We looked for a bit and we decided to just leave the car there.

I call next day and he says all the bulbs were blown on that side (high, low, side). He replaced the low and side and they work. He then says the DRL module is fried and that is why the High's are not working. WTF is this bullshit? First off the bulbs were fine when we BOTH checked them. How do all 3 bulbs FRY at once? Why does the other side work fine? He then goes to say its too much watts, well the RIGHT side bulbs are working PERFECTLY and MANY ppl on this forum had no problems with the Nokya Stage 2's.. How can a fried DRL module cause the left high beam to stop working?

I know this mechanic very well and I dont think he would rip me off..... He is good friends with the head Acura Mechanic in Winnipeg (my home) and has arranged for him to come look at my car after work.

I'm just pissed he fried my bulbs! 1 of each (9005,9006) and u can't order singles so I'm screwed another $45 to get replacements. And DRL, who the hell needs Daytime Running Lights? I dont want this module replaced, but he says its causing it......

End rant. Any opinions?

That sux man, you can get the nokya's cheap on ebay. I don't understand what caused them to fry, unless there's a short in the wiring harness. Hopefully the guy from acura will shed some light on the problem.

Just got car back. The head Acura mechanic says I blew the DRL module. He had to replace this module and all lights now work. Apparently the DRL module also controls part of the High beam operation. The mechanic assures me that the NOKYA lights are causing the DRL to overheat. Only one side of the car had the NOKYA bulbs and he could see the DRL temp rising. He STRONGLY recommends I DO NOT use the Nokya bulbs as they pull too much power. Changing the harness will do squat as its the DRL module u will fry.

So apparently the DRL module costs $180CDN and the tech put in 1hr labour and I'm only getting charged $150CD, so not bad at all. Acura would of changed me $300.

SO BE CAREFULL using higher wattage lights, it may work but it is stressing your DRL module and thats not cheap to replace.

On a side note, the Nokya Bulbs are BOTH fine. SO I have a pair of Nokya Stage 2 9005 + 9006 that I can not use. If anyone in Canada (or US) wants these, please PM me. They have not been used for more than 5 minutes.
