The ring around the boot doesnt fit that well, anyone got any ideas to make it fit better?

the metal bezel is oem. I just poped it off, cut the momo boot (which hurt because it was some nice leather) and modified it on. If there are some people that want to do this, i will make a right up with some pictures.

97 is the only way to go. At least we don't have to rip apart our entire center console to get to the radio.

Here's what I did...

... since I have a 97, theres no wood, so I took off the clips and bolted the chrome piece down. Maybe u can try trimming the lip around of the bottom of the piece so it lays flat on the wood and maybe somehow glue or tape it down, i dont know, just make sure u can get it off if u need to.
