Knocking Noise

I have a 98 2.3l Cl and it is a manual, I have a nocking noise everytime I take off in 1st and 2nd gear. It is also happening when I turn. Would anyone know what this is, or the problem and how would i solve it?

I am a recent owner of a 98 CL 3.0. I have owned and Integra for 13 years! It is most probably the CV boot. My mechanic checks the boots whenever I bring it in for an oil change (since that is about the only thing that you need on this car!). This is the most likely thing. Not a big deal. On the Integra it is $90 for the seal and I think the shop owner said it would be $120 to $150 to replace the CV joint with a rebuilt one. It seems I always cought it before the seal was open for too long.

Read the whole thing....he also says it sounds when he turns.

If it were to be the boot, it wouldnt be sounding. The boot just keeps all the grease from getting out. Once its broken it releases all of the grease and water gets in when it rains etc.... In my opinion its already fucked and he needs to replace the cv joints. its not to expensive to replace anyway. might run like $80 per side for rebuilt cv joints.

Good luck

Well I jacked up my ride this mourning and the you guys were correct it was the CV Boot!!!! I never had that problem with my 90 integra, cause i purchased hard drive axel' for my car the first time i had to replace those. Do you guys know if they make hard drive axel's for CL's? Thanks for the help!!!!!

Never heard of a "hard drive axle" - do you have any website I can go to in order to see one?

I think you have another problem....The cv joint is where the transmission is joined with the axle(front) This is protected by a rubber boot which is held by a clamp. If the boot is cracked then its just a matter of time the cv joint will get fucked. You can tell if it is bad by driving the car in first then turn the wheel (while accelerating)very important. It wont do it if you dont accelerate. Do it turning first one direction. then the other direction.
If its messed up it wil do it at all times cold or hot.

I just replaced my whole drivers axle. Got a remanufactured one w/ lifetime warranty from Kragen for 75$ w/ an 85$ core charge.

Sorry not hard axel but racing axel's. Here is the site that I got the axel's for my integra- http://www.driveshaftshop.com Dam I dont know if I want to hit up Kragen for my axel and just install it my self. that is not bad. But they have accord axel's. for level one for 400.00. I know it is worth it cause my integra did well with them.
The 94-97 accord axel's should work on my CL right?

mmm... Intersting

Now are you saying that the (ruber) boot lasts longer than stock? Because this is the only thing you have to replace if you chatch it in time.

Would you know how much this would run cause that might be my problem also?

O!!! I'm new to the cl's never had a prob like that. So they will replace both axel's and the CV joint even if the axel's are not bad man I hope it is only like a 100.00 bill's that will make me happy cause i have to get a rental car for the time being so that i can get to and from work.

Axles are more like a clicking or chattering sound. A knock sounds like a bushing or motor mount.
