K&N filter to replace Weapon R foam filter?

Any ideas where i can get a K&N filter to replace the cheap foam filter from a Weapon R. The filter fits on a 3 inch tube. Any help would be great.

Your local PepBoys should have them. Also, most any car shot will carry k&n replacements..just tell them what size or go find it yourself. I think maybe autocarparts.com might carry them too.

Hey eegret,

I also have the weapon-r intake. Does yours humm loudly while you car is idle. And sometimes whistle while acclerating or decelerating?

Hey Risky, I have the same set-up. I know notice the hmmm that you are talking about. That's the engine sucking in air at idle and is normal. It's louder because you only have a pipe leading into the intake, rather than the stock filter and tubing. If you have a hissing sound when you are driving normal and not stepping on it, I would think it could be because there is some air leaving the intake area. Have you check the connections to make sure that everything is tight and secure?

So, exactly what is the big difference between the AEM filter and the Weapon-R filter element? I can understand if you want a K&N...it's a totally different proprietary filter element...

I'm not sure about the AEM filter, but the Dragon filter that I got with my Weapon-R is a foam type of material. It's similar to the filter's that are used in home AC's or air cleaners.

As is the AEM....HKS..Comptech...and any other company that uses foam filters. Everything that has a K&N filter element is produced by K&N. Trust me..it's all the same stuff.

actually you are all right and wrong...
when it comes to performance and air cleaning, you always hear about the big brands used on race cars i.e. K&N, Comptech, AEM... the difference between those and many no name brands is the pore sizes... These high end brands have a reputation to make a high performance filter to to small pores so less dirt and more clean air enter.. thats the difference... but yes otherwise all the same shit!!
