Just did the 9005 --> 9006

It looks hot! I used philips blue bulbs. Cost me 24 bucks.

I can see the signs down the street that normally I can't see and Also i light up the highway signs from down the block. As far as I can tell it doesn't really bother people too much. I have to ask a friend do a drive by or something. But I would consider this the best mod for under 50 bucks!!

EDIT: i forgot to mention my high beams are not on, it just seem to fill out the whole headlight. When I turn on the highs damn it is bright.

Ok so this is a dumb ? but I just wanted to make sure I understand. You swapped out 9005's for 9006's so that all 4 bulbs are now 9006's?
I've got RacerDesign 9005's platinum whites and Fusion Gear 9006's Hyper Whites. I decided to try em out since they only ran me $25. for all 4.

oh no, 9005 --> 9006 was suppose to mean I put 9005 in 9006 sockets. it just a safety tab and scaped it off with a kinfe. The 9006 is about 1000 lumiens, the 9005 is an output of 1700 lumiens. HID is about 3200. So you can get an idea of the differences.

i have done this with my old cl b4 i went with hid. there was significant improvement, but the life of the 9005 wont las as long as the 9006, which the reason why i went with hid, eventually.

Corner bulbs

What did you replace your 194s with? I did the 9006>9005 swap too, but my corner bulbs look brown/yellow right next to the new bulbs.

btw, I highly reccomend this swap. Cost me $21, and 1/2 hour, and I can see the WHOLE road at night now. I'm a lot more confident on the highway now.

I used el hybrid brand, which is also known as polarg i believe. I used the super whites. They don't match the healight though. They look whiter than the headlights during the day time. At night all u see is the headlight on my car. hehehe

Recently I changed the bulbs in my wifes infinity, I switched from stock halogens to xenons but used the proper 9005 & 9006 bulbs in the proper locations. I've found that we could hardly see unless the brights were on. So now we leave the brights on all the time. I will get another set of the 9005's & put them in the low position but is there any risk of melting the wiring?

This might be a dumb question but why cant you put in the nokya's now? They are both high beams arent they?

the watts are higher than the stock blubs. it is something like 100watts. Which runs the risk of burning the sockets or wires. I ordered some nokya wire harness for $8 a pair shipped. We have to see wat happens. It too cold to do anything right now. It -10.

You probably already know this but why dont you use the Piaa extreme whites for the bumper lights? They are not yellow at all like the ones you have now.

Oh no, u use the high beam blub in the low beam spot. The high beam is don't have to touch.

you dont get the full effect of the high beams though, because in the high beam sockets the bulb is exposed, in the low beam sockets, the tip of the bulb is covered, so teh only light that comes out is what is reflected.

still, there is an improvement and gets my approval for best mod under $50

so.. u don't use high bean at all?

or you put 9005 both high/low?

is that possible to put 9005 both of 'em? and works?

Thanks =)

Ok u guys got issues if u can't understand this, lol.

Ok blue is stock 9005 TYPE.
OK red is stock 9006 TYPE.

Wat we do is we find "ANOTHER pair of 9005 type bulbs". Don't touch the high beam which is blue arrows. We take the "another pair of 9005 bulbs" and cut the tab of them and put them in the red location. where it USED to be 9006 (red). The high beam is different and has nutting to do with this mod besides using their type of bulbs. There is no switching of the harness or locations etc. Just using 9005 bulbs where 9006 bulbs used/suppose to be. I really hope this clears up a lot of confusion.

Hey Dan, What kind of CL are you sportin'? I'm in a black 97 3.0 w/ shaved ass. Get my attn. if you ever see me, and we'll
:blaze: .
I have some Wagner TruViews 9006s (HID look) I'll sell for $25.

NAPA (only the airways store- 2727 23rd st. NE) has a deal on: buy 2 TruViews, and get a mail in rebate for 1. They're like $13 a piece.

Hey, a Calgarian!

It's light blue with tinted glass, a '98 2.3. Now be kind if you run into me, I'm not packing nitrous or anything.. at least not yet.. 8) though last time I took it to the mountains I wished for a little more passing power especially on the little hills getting there. My lights are currently Sylvania Silver Star and corner LED's. Ebay clear turn signal lenses are next but not if it's -20 outside.. hehe.. Have you been to Speedtech Racing Development on 32 Ave. NE? I noticed in this city not too many people hop up their cars, maybe we Canadians are too conservative or something. On my trip to South Carolina there were always vehicles with interesting aftermarket parts.
