JStoops' 52K Service Update
JStoops' 52K Service Update
Hey Kids-
Today the long neglected Ack got some servicing. A full Mobil 1 oil change, flushed and replaced the transmission fluid, and put in 4 new Bosch Platinum +4 Spark Plugs. I attempted to roll out the damage some asshole did to my fender without bringing it to my uncle's shop but it's right where the fender bolts to the frame the and brace is damaged so I have to bring it into the shop to pull the fender off and roll it back into shape...

Heres so pics of the process of draining the tranny if a mod wants to make it into a DIY...
First, the swag:

Here is a pic from the underside of the car:
the two bolts you will deal with are the two large ones on the tranny. The top one is a 17mm bolt which is the "fill" plug. You pull this plug out first. (Also, used to check the level of fluid). I recommend using PB blaster on both bolts to make your life easier. The bottom bolt is the drain plug. It hooks right up to your 3/8" ratchet. Both of these bolts will have a washer that the Service Manual recommends replacing. I did so and bought them at my local dealership for $3 for the pair. I am going to be using Acura MTF with 8oz. of Prolong Transmission Fluid Treatment.

After draining the fluid, (which smells really fuckin weird btw). You replace the washer on the bottom bolt and put it back in. Since I didn't have a flexible funnel, I used an old small rubber hose and stuck a funnel on one end and stuck the other end into the fill hole.

It ends up being topside of your engine bay and makes filling ALOT easier.

The transmission in the 2.3CL requires 2 US quarts for a fill/flush. After filling it up, replace the top bolt's washer and put that bolt back in too.
As easy as an oil change!
Next came the oil change... Didn't take pics cause if you don't know how to change oil, you shouldn't really read this thread anyways....
Next, with gas at $4.53 a gallon in CT, I've been doing everything to improve gas mileage. This includes a good ol' fashioned tune up. Bosch +4 Platinum plugs are what I run on all my N/A cars. My old plugs were fairly dirty due to a small oil leak into my throttle body.
Heres a few side by side shots:

Next, my brother finally got rid of his POS Jeep that sucked gas like a vaccuum sucks dirt. He's joined the Acura family.
Picked up a 2000 Integra LS automagic but its clean and gets good mileage (hes not really a car guy)
Heres a few pics:

Next, comes another problem with the Ack.
Being unique also means problems come in hordes. Being the only 1st Gen with EDFC is cool but for the time being I'm riding ghetto.

My rear passenger coilover popped it's top and is losing all its oil. I've gotta ship it back to Tein to get overhauled and reconditioned. The bad part(s): It's gotta be sent back to Japan to be reconditioned, AND i've gotta ride around with my ass in the air cause I'm putting the rears back to stock for now and leaving the front lowered. Not sure how long its gunna take or how much its gunna run me but... shit happens
Here's some random pics of my Ack looking like it was mowing the grass (which I was doing to my lawn; i thought it was kinda funny)

Next up a bit of a contest...
Find out what kind of project car I picked up!

cause driving with stock backs and lowered front doesnt exactly work in ones favor. I think CLPwner had his car like that for a lil while and said it sucked. nice pics, nice write up.
Secret project car looks like a DSM of sorts? Or at least a dsm turbo, that black outlet looks familiar.
Edit: Yeah that definitely looks like a 4G63T exhaust manifold, poor guy you don't know what kind of hell you've gotten into. But if you need parts i will see if my friend still has his huge box laying around... but I have a feeling it and the new head got junked with his laser.

Ding ding ding! You good sir are correct! You win the prize of a picture!

got a steal of a deal on it.
gunna turn it into a 2.3 stroker and make it my beastly street car.
Came with the girl too? Good deal. AWD? We have good memories of my friend's FWD laser... like racing a ferrari 360 down the highway. Which sadly is the last memory since it was running about 22psi on stock internals w/o a tune and creeping to 27. She limped home broken, but a victor... at least until 155mph and then the ferrari said
. Sounded like an STi on the way home since it was running on 3/4 cylinders.
