Intake for CL
Intake for CL
I just put an intake on my 3.0 CL and runs great; just one problem, it makes a low resonating hum at idle. Does anyone know what causes this and if so how to fix it? I realize that the baffolding on the factory intake mutes the tone but this sound is loud. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

You might need to check the connections on all the hoses and make sure that everything is tight. When I installed the aem on mine that was my problem. I still have a hissing noise at very low speeds though and low rpms. Let me know if you have those problems too...I want to know if it is just my installation.
Good luck and keep us updated!

What kind of intake was it?
How long did it take to put it?
Did you fix the problem with humming?

The hissing can come from just the filter itself...at idle it tends to make that sound...my friends cold air...humss pretty loud...thats just the way they sound i guess

Thanks ya'll for the help. I still have the humming noise, however, after driving it for some time, it is not as bad and there is definitely a power difference. I am going to get a K@N for the system and maybe that will help. We shall see! Thanks for the input!

I have the DC Intake, it is supposed to whine, because it is sucking in so much more air then your old stock intake, It supposed to sound like that, a lot of air is being rushed though.

I like the sound when you accelerate, but I do not like when it's idle.

The hum is there b/c the intake is made out of metal and it resonates. Nothing you can really do about it. I got rid of my intake b/c of this. I suppose you can try some Dynomat on it or something to help absorb the sound.
I think the biggest reason why you have a power increase is because of the filter itself and the fact that you remove the resonator.
