Intake

For the 2.2 CL is there a consensus for best intake? Whats the difference between a short ram and cold air? Where did you guys buy your intakes?

the consensus is Injen or AEM... get a CAI.

and others will say get an offbrand one on ebay for 20 bucks and buy yourself a K&N filter.

or do a search and ull find the same info.

A Cold Air Intake is designed to take in the air that flows from the bottom of the car (near the wheel) and is longer than the short ram.

The short ram grabs air from the engine bay.

Supposedly, the CAI gives 1-2 more hp over the short ram, but there is one thing that might concern you. If there is ever a chance that you'll be forced to drive through a semi-deep puddle, you'll want to consider grabbing a bypass valve which will prevent water from entering the engine (causing it to hydrolock and destroying the engine). Some people say that the bypass valve will reduce the CAI's hp by 1 or so, evening it out with the short ram.

Short ram gets air from behind the radiator. CAI gets it from infront.

How much is a bypass valve, does it matter who makes it, and where have people gotten them from?
