Depends on a lot of things but I would say no less than 700 a year. Full coverage isn't really worth it for a street bike. I've gone through 3 bikes with only liability.

Yeah, until someone hits you...

...Then you're in for a fvckin mess.

I'd never step foot on a bike without full coverage. Having been hit by a car before, I can tell you, it's no fun paying dr bills yourself.

Always insure the bike as high as financially possible because accidents are BOUND to happen. You may control your riding, but you don't control the ass driving the car next to you.

How much were you paying for full coverage?

Isn't that what the other person's insurance is for??? Granted it may be a hassle if you get hit by the wrong person but since when does the person not at fault for the accident go through there own insurance company to receive compensation for damages?

I've been hit before as well. Broke my wrist and ankle. The guy that hit me was responsible and I received compensation for all medical bills and damage to my bike, which was totaled anyway.

What if...???

someone runs you off the road & leaves...or a deer runs out in front of you... or there's a mechanical failure...or there's sand on the road, etc, etc, etc??? Liability by itself won't do shit for you in one of these "one vehicle accidents".

What if the prick who hit you does stick around, but DOESN'T have insurance? Sure, you can sue him(after YOU pay all the medical bills up front or after you get out of the hospital).

And yes, I've been through it also, so I have more than enough experience on the matter. I took advise from someone like you on my first bike & wound up paying over $2,500 in medical bills due to a car trying to T-Bone me & leaving the scene.

Anyone who rides without full coverage is taking large personal safety & financial risks. Just because YOU assume you'll never need full coverage, doesn't mean you should advise a new rider to take that risk.

Calm down bro. I wasn't trying to start a big issue. It suck ass that you got stuck with all those med bills. I hope everything turned out ok.

Accidents are a risk of riding, we all know that. You can only be as prepared as you choose to be.

Usually $1 per cc per year (i.e. 600cc $600) for a sportbike.
