Installed tranny cooler in 2.2
Installed tranny cooler in 2.2
I put one in because I bought the, 98 CL with 75k miles, car with some major slipping in the first and second gears. I told the dealer to take $1500 off of the car because of the problem. They took off $500 plus TTL, which came to about $1200 off total. I then had it rebuilt, after I had it checked out. The cooler was added to prevent it happening again.
It was pretty much the same as the 3.0, just a few differences. The tranny return line is also the line on the right (of the two). I had to buy some more line as the positioning in the 2.2 makes it so you cant reach in front of the radiator with the original, shorter, lines. The lines ran around the left side of the radiator, with the plastic guard removed. Also, the repositioning of the horn is much harder to do, so instead i just bent it forward a bit so it wouldnt be too close to the cooler. I also had to remove the plastic guard on the hood latch to fit in the cooler. You may not have the horn or hood latch problem with a smaller cooler, as the one i put in was 3/4" by 9 1/2" by 11".
I tested it out tonight, and the return line is much cooler. No leaks!
