Install of factory spoiler
Install of factory spoiler
Hey i just picked up a factory spoiler for my CL and it didn't come with any instructions. It has all the mounting hardware and is already painted to match.
Does anybody on here have a install guide for this?

You have to drill 3 holes in your trunk

This is what it looks like installed. Most people have a bodyshop do it. Though some members install their own, just be careful.

dont think it;d be more than 1.
I've just do it 2 week later you have to drill 6 hole (2 each side and 2 in the center ) it's pretty easy the 4 hole (each side ) are stamped into the metal so you just have to open the trunk and check ,you will see them and Will know were to drill. For the center check into you box you will a piece of carton that have the shape of your trunk and have 2 mark to indicate where to drill

Proper install should be like this:

No, but seriously, I'd have the body shop do it. You don't want to deal with messing up your trunk and/or spoiler unless you feel 100% confident with the instructions above.

werd... plus, if you mess up, you'd need a new trunk, if they mess up, you get one for free!!!

i bought a new oem factory paint match for $100 shipped from the east coast. they have an alignment template for you to mark off where to drill. i was scared to do it myself, but i just took my time. i will see if i can find it, and mail/scan it to you.

Removing the 3rd brake light for the spoiler sound's a little
I don't think that's how Acura wanted it to be, I'm sure there is another way right? It just doesn't sound right. I'd rather keep my 3rd brake light and paint over the brake light on the spoiler if I'm not going to use it anyway.

I don't see the point of splicing the harness either; if people aren't going to see our big ass tail lights, or the spoiler light, they sure as hell aren't going to see the light in our rear windshield.

The window brake light IS the 3rd brake light
They only power one or the other is what I'm saying. Look at the pic i posted above, my 3rd BL is there, but as I mentioned, there is no power run to it to power the brake light because it goes to the wing brake light instead. Acura intended it to be one or the other. It would be too much light, that's why it's one or the other. You need to read what people are saying mang. You can remove the 3rd BL, I did when I got my tint done, but reinstalled it cuz otherwise there'd be a big hole in my rear deck

Got the spoiler on no problem.
2 things though.
1. The new springs that came with the oem spoiler appear to be identical to the ones that were already on there.
I changed one and there was no change in how the trunk opens.
2. I changed the setting on the springs, but now one of the springs touches the drivers side speaker (wtf?) (it doesnt do it when its in the normal position)
