install cai questions??

I just installed my aem cai today to replace my aem short ram in my car. I have a few questions about it. When I had my short ram on, there was a "hissing" kind of sound at idle but with the CAI it sounds more like a resonant hummm. I cut my intake pipe near the about two inches away from the nipple sticking out because it was the only place that provided enough clearance for the bypass valve. I attatched the nipple to the hose that is connected to it when it was stock/short ram. I have two rubber tubes with a little foam thingie and this little plastic piece...Did I miss a step???
Thanks

On the 2.2 theres a vac line attahed to the Air Intake Resonator. Thats the only vacuum line you need to plug unless youve removed the vaccum tank (about the size of a wallet, I left mine in)for that system too. All these vac lines are for the AIR and can just be cpped off now that youve gone with the CAI. The hissing is the air passing throughthe CAI at idle. You can increase or decrease by adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body(it will also affect your idle .

BTW, I had several parts left including the filter thing. All the vacuum lines I disconnected off of the stock mountain of plastic I simply capped off.

Most of the dealing with the vacuum lines should have already been done with your short ram so as long as you connected the hose to the valve cover you should be in business.

I think you did just fine. I don't think you missed a step. Close to the nipple was the right place to install the bypass valve. In fact, an AEM representative told me that it should be somewhere in between the nipple and the AEM decal.
