im pissed
so as most of you know, a few months ago my car went in to the shop for a paint job and to slap the klepto kit on.
i just got back from the philippines not more than 2 hours ago and the first thing that was on my mind was getting to my car. so i get home and the first thing i see is the back of my car. looks good from the back. then out of reflex i ran my fingers on my car and it was ROUGH AS SHIT!!!....so i thought it was just dirty. as i examined the car i found the following
fish eyes on the paint (i hope you guys knwo what that is)
over spray and tons of it
and a fucked up ass wax job
im pissed. majorly pissed. i mean the color looks good but its not smooth to the touch.
i wanted to see if any of you guys knew of a way to smooth out the surface. either with a compound of some sort or something like that. i know this thread is worthless without pictures and you guys will get them later on this week. but the reason why i wrote this post was really to see if you guys had any suggestions besides repaint the car..haha

If you took it to the body shop then you might be able to take it back, point out the problem, and make them fix it at their cost. Most body shops should be on a high standard of quality.
word word and word to all of those. if, and only IF they dont make amends.. KIT wax makes a scratch sealer that works wonders. its a heavy compound, looks like wood putty actually. clay bar the car (using the full process, not just the light one) and use a power buffer to smooth out as much of it as you can, then wax the car using the kit heavy scratch sealer, it doubles as a polish and shine and should leave it smooth to touch.

anyway just got off the phone with the guy from the body shop. turns out that my cars not done. after about an hour of tellin him whats up he said "i still need to sand all the imperfections down, repaint, then apply more clear coats. i just wanted to show you what the car looked like and let you drive it for a while cause i know you needed it"...sounds pretty fishy to me but he's a family friend and i know where he lives and where his shop is.
im dropping it off on saturday to get more work done.
yo dicorp its funny that you mention that cause thats what the dude that painted my car said..but totally true. but i love this car...

Haha, did he tell you that it's not finished when he gave it to you?? That does sound fishy..
haha, that sounds soo fishy.... "here you go, i wanted to see how you liked the color before i put the clearcoat on, so you can just drive it around for a couple days like this"
...but aslong as he's doing it again, and right. and if you know him and he knows you, he should do his best.
goodluck tho

you'd be surprised how long it can take a busy shop. plus like he said he knows the guy, which means he probly knew he was gonna be gone for a few months and probly left it till two weeks ago.

mine took about a month to get in, and then they had the cl for about 3 weeks, it sucked, but worth it in the end

just weird to me that he would let it out of his shop/compound unfinished
yo germ were in the bay you from?....cause one time when i was working for a valet company in san jose i valed a acura 3.0 dats green and it had a acurazine sticker on it...i was gonna ask the guy if he goes to acurazine.com he looked hawaiian but had a philippines tshirt on...idk if dats you....

anyway...if he takes any longer with my car imma raise hell. i mean honestly from far away it looks koo..haha...but when you get up close it looks like it was done by a 12 year old...i mean theres no spots missing but there are a lot of rough areas. i feel almost embarrassed to drive it around..
Yeah that's unfortunate for you to wait longer till it gets done
... All the body shops around here in CO wont let you even look at the car until it is done. But it must be different in other states.

yea defiently go back to the shop that did the work. How long has it been painted for? If its been less than 2 months since its been painted Do NOT put wax on it. If you decide to try to fix it on your own use something like 3M rubbing compound. You do not want to trap all the solvents under a barrier of wax. If its that ruff its just the primer/sealer might have been laid down too grainy or clear coat was sprayed really dry or a combo of the two. Wet Sanding the clear with some 1200, 1500 and to ease buffing 2000 grit paper and buffing will help smooth it out but should really be left to someone with experience especially on Green (fresh) paint.

by sanding you are leveling the surface so its smooth. The compound will polish it all out to a nice even shine.. The only problem with buffing someone elses work is you dont know how many coats of clear they've put on. Buffing fresh paint (within 2 months of paint) Is a very tough thing to do and i wouldnt suggest it for someone that dosent have a good bit of experience in buffing. You need to know how much to sand, stay away from edges, what compounds and buffing pads to use, how much pressure to apply.. Its a lot to know and ive seen inexperienced guys take a paint job right down to the metal with a buffer by getting the edge of the buffer hung up on something. A big right angle electric buffer like we pros use can be a beast. Ive got an old one that i put
8" sand paper on to strip cars with and trust me you dont want to get it hung up on an edge cause it'll try and take your arm off. In the end your best off if the shop who did the work wont help try taking it to a really good detail shop and see if they'll cut and buff it for you but expect to pay anywhere between 100-250 if they'll even do the job.

yeah see..after after you guys mentioned it i tried to look for a diy but couldnt find one. sucks cause i was honestly hoping to floss my car this weekend but i guess i have to wait..haha...i mean im not so inexperienced that id probably fuck it up...ive detailed before and did as a side thing a while back..
would it make it easier if i showed yall pics?...i guess thats a stupid question..hahaa...ill try to take pictures tomorrow at work

I dunno why you would even consider messing with the paint job yourself. Take it back and kick them in the cunts.
You want to do everything you can to not have to take it back to the shop, I get it now. As long as it all works out. Just don't wetsand or anything intense cause then he'll blame you and not do shit.
im raising hell if he doesnt do shit anyway...im taking it to the shop tomorrow to go over the car with him.
