I need some opinions.
Alright, heres the deal. I am contenplating getting rid of the CL. Here is why. I have to get 2 new axels, camber kit, alignment, clutch. I am going to be getting around 2 grand for this 225k swimming pool that I designed. I am a pool engineer. Plus Im going to be getting a pretty decent raise.
If I were to take that 2 grand and put it into the CL, the CL is still going to be an almost 10 year old car.
The car has been into 2 accidents one of which did 7k worth of damage (should have been totaled) I got hit from the side and hit a curb head on at about 45 mph. So all the damage was done to the suspension and frame. The car has not really handled all that great ever since. But then again I have not had a camber kit either. I know my alignment is whacked. But it may be also because of the accident it handles like shit.
Here is my dilema. I have 1 year left on my car before its paid off. I could easily put the 2 grand into the car, but would not be guaranteed that it would be fixed. But the car has sentimental value for the simple fact, everything that is done to the car, I have done myself. My car has never seen a mechanic before. Engine wise its still runs fine. I just turned 60,000 miles on 4/20/06. So it does not really have too many miles on it. I just dont know if i wanna spend 2 grand on the car when it may or may not fix it. Im just really confused.
My other issue is that I have no idea what I want. I dont want to spend a whole lot on a new car. I would be will to go to llike 15k. The cars that I have kind of been looking at are a 98-02 Accord. Or a 03 on up Jetta. Something along those lines.
What do you guys think? Sorry for the long post.Just have a lot going through my mind.

why an accord? its pretty much just as old, and could have the same tranny problems if you go with an 3.0v6. Why not use the 2k to pay off your car, sell it, and pick up something nicer with your raise

I'm surprized that you need a new clutch and axels after only 60k. Did they get damaged in the accident?
Although your CL will cost a decent chunk of cash to keep on the road right now, it will still most likely last just as long as some of those newer cars you are looking at. A 5sp CL with 60k miles on it is practically nothing. I would pay off the CL, repair it, and keep it for a while longer. Why finance a newer car that won't neccessarily last longer or be more reliable than the car you already have nearly payed off? Does a 98-02 Accord or a 03 Jetta really have that much more to offer you than your CL?

Civic is out. Kind of growing out of the whole "race" scene...Plus I need something with more power.
The reason I mentioned the accord is because I was looking for something a little bigger. I am a honda fanboy, so anything else is pretty much out. I had a 98 accord (rolled it 3 times and walked away without a scratch and had no seatbelt on) and absolutly loved it. Best by far any honda I have owned, Ive owned 3. Plus I think those 4 years are one of the best body styles.
My main reason I dont want to dump money in the CL is because I dont want to waste 2 grand fixing something that might not fix it. It could be more of a perminent thing than just the alignment caused by the accident.
Then the other half of me is like, keep the damn car pay it off then trade it in or keep it as a project car and get something new... But putting 2 grand into the car still isnt gonna change the fact that it is almost 10 years old. When I said accord 98-02, I was talking more about the 02. I was just referring to the body style.
pay it off and its yours forever.. take off the plates and all.. just keep it in the garage and make that bitch something special.. in the meantime, pick up something newer that youre happy with, because it sounds like you need that for yourself.
if you are unhappy about the car... let it go... but u'll have to pay the price of getting something new... then maintaining that newer car. since i already have some scratches and stuff on my car... i don't worry so much about something happening to it.. because it's already not in its best shape. If you think about how much money you would get for it (prolly not that much), see what other car options you have. like ppl said.. 60k is nothing on a honda... thats practically new. If you invest that 2k in it now... and it'll be good for the next few years... then i think it'll be all worth it, then save up and get something great!
GL with ur decision.

it might not be worth putting money into that car anymore. once a car has frame or unibody damage it never rides right again.
i would suggest you look into getting a 03 + Accord I4 5spd (Sedan or Coupe), please dont buy VW, i work at a used Honda dealership and almost every MKI4 Jetta we get ends up getting wholesaled. VW's have alot of problems. and i would get a 98-02 V6 for the obvious reasons.
