have fun being the slowest rider on the fastest bike, if you can manage not to crash it...
And to the guy who said 600s are smaller versions with worse brakes and whatever... get a clue, they are on sale at walmart

Well, what's done is done.
Just remember when you go out riding in a group, especially on twisty back roads, ride your own "ride". Don't try to keep up with those faster guys, go your own pace. Who cares if you're last, they'll wait at the next pit stop.

If, as you say, people on this board ride--and I mean ride, not go pose next to hooters and the mall trying to do wheelies for attention, I would expect more people responding about how this guy made a bad decision, not "cool dood, that's l33t" or whatever
ps: thanks, i love my 998R..the 999 is just ugly

Dingus998, last time i checked this was an Acura CL forum? Maybe it changed into a sport bike board when you joined, but what the F man. You prob dont even have a CL or plan on getting one. If anyone on here really cares enough about bikes, they don't need your help or opinions here on A-CL.com, we can join a BIKE forum. AHHH, some people just annoy me......

People who think they know what they're talking about when they haven't done any research are what annoy me. :sqntfawk:

Every 16 year old with a checkbook that thinks they can start out on a liter bike and be fine is one more reason for insurance companies to raise EVERYONE'S rates. I can't count the number of threads I've read on non-motorcycle boards about some shit for brains buying a liter bike, wrecking it the next week, then posting "oh well, insurance will pay for it". Then the ins companies raise MY rates to pay for his stupidity.

That's what sportbike riders think, fyi.
I'm not gonna start bitching you out or anything, just be careful. Most experienced riders would advise against getting anything more than 500ccs to begin with (though lots start out with 600s).
But I'm sure zillions of people have told you how "stupid" you are for getting a liter bike.

Do you have a cl, plan on buying one, want to learn about them, or are you just a ball buster who has time on his his hands to throw in his . Please constrict your opinions to 2 wheel forums.

ok..dont flame on me..
i originally asked my friend to post this thread on gixxer.com to get some constructive help..
i know the disadvantages of getting a liter bike b4 a 600 or even a smaller bike, but i just thought that they would explain it better.
as for the bikers who have signed on to a-cl.com,
i DO think they have a right to voice their opinion. i mean..
1. theyre looking out for the kids safety
2. if the kid crashes because of ignorance, thatll affect their insurance too..(cuz daMm yall bikers pay a lot for insurance)
3. they are trying to clear up any misconceptions about bikes to others.
-and since when is this forum closed to non acura cL people?
anyway... ive worked on my friend's gixxer a lot in the past year, and i have grown to totally respect the bike and how much it (a MERE 600) can be a handfull. even now, were trying to talk his brother out of getting a new R6 for his first bike bc we think that would be a lot to handle.
i just hope the kid with the new R1 realizes what situation he has gotten himself in and i hope the best outcome for him.
that is all.

honestly....all of the sportbikes i know of are faster than i will ever need to go...love the r1, but i wouldn't recommend it as a first bike by any stretch of the imagination
btw, if you are into stunting, like you say you are...why are you buying a pristine bike for your bike?????
i actually use the r1 as a street bike and am trying to get enought money together to get a salvage 929 or something....
btw...what do all you guys thing about that new errrr. i can't remember the name of it, but its kinda like a four door rsx???
cheers.....

How many bike forums did this thread get posted on?
So many people here with <5 posts suddenly that all seem to ride bikes...Came here just to bitch someone out about an unfortunate mistake (IMO anways)?
I think I recognize some of the names from SBN.

oy.. this thread has gone downhill.
1. you bought a liter bike, fine. your decision, be very careful with it. take the msf course, dont ride fast because you wont be able to handle it. dont ride hard into corners because you will most likely drop it because lack of experinece.
2. dont ride in peak traffic time, people are ignorant and dont give a shit about people on two wheels.
3. you dont learn being a good rider on a brand new shiny 1,000cc bike. you learn on a ugly-ass kawasaki ex500 that you wont cry over when you drop it.
please, please use your head. too many people get hurt on motorcycles becuase they ride too fast and too hard without experience.
