Ok, maybe thats what it is....I pluged a hose that went into the throttle body, which use to sit under the stock intake. (Bottom hose that goes across the back on the engine bay to the other side of the car). What hose is it?

u dont feel it that well on the SOCH engines. but you should hear a change in the tone of the engine around 4,000rpm.
leaving hoses disconnected from the intake does not do anything to the way that the vtec functions.
if you have any hoses that are not connected and that are just hanging around, just tie them off, and you will be fine.

You don't need your Vtec. I traded mine in for a really awesome STAR WARS POSTER. But when i got home it was ripped in the corner and Chewbacca's thigh was missing. BAD TRADE

I do have an AEM short ram, so i think that covers the trying to keep the stock hoses in the right place.
the only hose that was left over was the one i tried to explain. and that ended on the right side of the TB and was just capped off. if the cam did not go into vtec would i get a CEL?
thanks

Do you guys sleep? man... I think i know what hose you're talking about... just put my intake in a month or so ago and i didn't even cap that hose off... just kinda threw it aside- its probably dragging on the road by now :wackit: ... I must say though- i feel the vtec kick in much more now than i did before the intake... can hear it and feel it... Oh and it puts me back in the seat... haha- that 4 cylinder power.

if u have an auto put it in d3 and drive. after u get into 3rd accel and u should feel a little jump when vtec enguages. if u have a manual in 3rd gear and do the same. u should clearly feel a little jump in power and if u have an exhaust hear the tone change. theres no big kick in a sohc vtec. if u think there is its just cuz ur auto drops into a lower gear whne u floor it and vtec engauges. and with a manual u can drop gears left and right

it might be that ur ecu hasn't read that u have a new intake yet. try disconnecting the battary for a while and reconnect it and see if it fixed ur problem. or u can just wait and ur ecu will learn that that the air intake has changed.

i did an ecu reset while i was install so i think the ecu is reset now.
as for the VTEC kicking in, i know it isn't as pronounced as a auto downshifting. (and regradless of if the vtec worked or not this "feeling" would still be there).
i guess what i'm really missing is the tone change in the exhuast when the vtec kicks in. i know it isn't much of a power kick but i really don't think it is there anymore.
any other suggestions?
thanks all

yo did u drive in 3rd gear yeat or what. if u accel moderatley to redline u will definitely feel a slight bump in power (nothin spoecial) and exhuast tone will change somewhere after 4ooo rpms. do that and then tell me what happens.

ok, I did that, and I definately felt the extra power but I dont hear that vtec kicking in at 4 like i did when I had my exhaust only. I dont feel the engine being weaker, just dont hear the difference.
