i died out.......in a automatic!!

Well yesterday I went to watch the fireworks at the pier, and i had to park on a STEEP san francisco hill, not knowing that my gas was low, my engine sounded like it was a pansy when i was reversing up hill, but I got in pretty easily, and then we left. Coming back to the car in the middle of the night, the engine wouldn't start, like it was cold or something, so i pressed the gas a little, and then started up the car, it was running and the *ucker behind me was about 2 INCHES away from my bumper, makin it that much harder to reverse out, it took about 3 shifts to get in a position where I could pull out of the spot, but on the third reverse, the brake pedal was vibrating like crazy, then all of the sudden it died!!! restarted it again, and died again... LUCKILY on the last reverse that I made, I had JUST enough room to clear the spot, so with the car off, I rolled downhill in neutral, seemed like the brakes weren't working, so i was basically floorin the brakes, got to level ground and started the engine.... lesson learned, don't park your car on a steep hill with almost a empty tank, haha, mistake on my part

You have power brakes, they don't work to well with the engine off. Sometimes they wont work at all.

haha, yea I think the place where fuel is taken from the tank is in the back of the tank, since being downhill, it moves all the gas to the front, haha

They
"will not work" when you lose all the brake pressure in your master cyclinder. You can apply the brakes a few times without the engine on, but if you keep doing it, they will soon fail.
