I was thinking...but I'm sure someone on the board has done it before...I wouldn't normally but the chip in my fathers truck did a amazing job and he bought it for like 20-30 or something from his friend so I dont know if thats normal price or a bargain for a friend...

All this guy is selling is a resistor and a page of instructions. You're supposed to remove the connector to the intake air temp sensor and stick the ends of the resistor into it. This is supposed to make it read a cooler intake air temp and thus advancing the timing a bit. Sounds good in theory but in practice doesn't work.

Try it out, why not? My dad's got a super chip in his 01 f-150, fucken badass. Very noticable improvement. I have never seen a real chip for our car, i think thats where the VAFC is substiuted.

rip off

first off, if this was legit, the chip would run a few hundred dollars. 2nd, how much tuning have these guys really done on a CL? None I bet, so what benefit would it do if it's not tuned for the car.

3rd, if it was legit, it would be a piggy back as our cars ecu's can't be zapped.

but hey, try it, you get what you pay for

I'm telling ya, it not a chip, just a resistor. I know, I tried it I figued "five bucks, what the hell..." I bought mine like a year and this looks like its the same thing. Notice he doesn't have a picture in the auction. Anyway, I'm not aware of any plug-n-play chips for our cars other than the Venom 400 and its benefits are questionable. The only things I know we got are ones that require programming (hopefully by professional tuners) like the Apexi, Unichip, or AEM. Apexi is limited in capabilities but is cheap and does the basics. Unichip and AEM are expensive and can tailor just about everything.

Hey,

CO30CL is right. It is a resistor. Why spend all that frickin money when at Radio Shack you can pick it up for what a buck!!!! Seriously you get what you pay for. Get the wrong Ohm load and you may cause detonation and man is it worth it? Get too small an Ohm load and you may have poorer performance. So if you really want to try it out just be as cheap as this crap is and I'll watch you melt your pistons.

Seriously you should have just searched because this has been gone in detail a way while back. And I know because I wrote the long write-up. Sorry for the harshness but you know, some things just can't be forgotten.

As cliche as this may sound..."If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!!!"

Stop spending money on such small mods (not even sure if they could be called that - they're almost like stickers that don't do much) and save up on something that may be worth it.

Alright, enough of that and this subject...Next Thread Please!

it's crap. this is a trick that works well for dsm's, but not our cars.

just get some headers, you'll be a lot happier and you wont be screwing with the electrical system.

all of them are right. i got it on my 97 2.2cl premium..... though i got a little bit better performance, it wasn't because of the chip but because now i was filling the car up with premium.. hehehe...... so, no, it doesn't work, and these guys should be sued for selling something that doesn't work and lying to public
