how important is

the rubber (squeege like) strip on both sides of your door windows? my window is gettin caught on this and is gonna wear my motor out(i hear it struggling) and mess up my tints. what would happen if i rip this out? will i break anything? will water get down there and mess up the electronics? havent rolled them down in a while and noticed this when i got pulled over tonight

The strips are there to keep water out. If you take it out, you window will bang inside to outside when rolled down, and you'll have a nice pond inside your door. As far as the window motor dying, it's a first gen curse, they suck something fierce.
Replace that window motor/regulator assembly NOW before it dies, and you have to drive around with the door panel removed for weeks like i did (ghetto!). Your tints should be fine, but clean the strips where they contact the window, if they were like mine, they were dirty as hell.

My window motor is slow as fuck. IT always makes a screeching noie when it goes up and down.

About 5 inches of weather stripping came off near the very bottom corner. I Haven't really had any problems with leakege yet.

It's about to die, roll down the window and lube up the tracks with some silicone.
