how do i take off the black piece around the headunit?

how do i take off the black piece around the headunit?

do i have to remove the whole center console or can i just pop it out somehow?

remove center console.

Otherwise you run the risk of breaking tabs, and then it wont sit right.

how was this done? the center console is not actually out....

lol thats my car, or..what it used to look like. What year is yours? mines 97, the 97s the middle part just popped off. if youre 98-99, you have to take the whole center out.

ya, thats ur whip from the shifter mod. i gota 97. where does it pop off from? should i use a flathead? where should i pry?

i just use a really small flathead and pry around. Just be careful not to scrath up your trim as you see I have done all over

use a piece of old fabric around the head of the screwdriver, this helps to keep the scrathing down.

Or wrap the tip of the screw driver in electrical tape. That's what I do.

just pull on the little door that hides your clock buttons,.. should pull the whole thing off
