to remove sap spots i use a product called Protective Coating Remover, made by Granitize. dab some on a towel and rub gently, it ll come right off. if by any chance you can not find some of that, i would try taking it somewhere, (car wash, detail shop) that have it readily available and have them take it off for you. dont go crazy on your car putting gas and brillo pads on it, shit like that, when removing sap its really easy to scratch the surface.

Man thats weird, i just had a bunch al over my windshield too. I didn't even know what it was untill I read this post and really thought about it. I used a razorblade VERY GENTLY because the "goo gone" wasn't doing shit. That sap was sooo thick that I thought my windshiled had scratches on it.

They finally came off, but I don't know if I'd try a razorblaze on the paint.

i use "turtle wax Bug, Tar & Tree Sap remover"

always works for me.

and FYI..you shouldnt try to wash sap off, soap and water will do nothing for it.

THEY actually ahve plastic razor blades that you can buy to use on the paint, they dont scratch it, at least it didnt scratch mine.

it's easier to get off when it's cold, as it congeals more. when it's warm it's more pliable and tends to spread rather than come off.

after using sap removed you MUST rewax the area, the sap remover usually takes ALL the wax off

Methyl Hydrate - AKA- Gasline anti-freeze melts that shit right off.
Soak a soft towel and gently rub. umm, you guys in Florida might not even know what gasline anti-FREEZE is

You can use gasoline but just make sure you dilute it.

dennis- you cannot put gasoline on your paint, its one of the worst things to put on there. Use something thats made to remove the sap safely, NOT gasoline.

Have any of you tried just plain ole Maguires paint cleaner/wax? That always works for me.

My bad dude. I could have sworn my co-worker did it but after I thought about it, it was acid. I tried to edit but it wouldn't let me because it was after 60 seconds.

ACID? some dude put acid on his paint, holy shit!! Think about that for a second.......acid.......on paint.......damn, thats even worse than gasoline!! dennis, tell your co-worker to not ever do that again! but anyways, hey if you guys ever need any kind of car care advice, i consider myself pretty knowledable in that field. I've been professionally detailing since i was 16, over 7 years. I also am the asst. manager at a car wash where i work, so i'm still pretty much in the game. I used to try to offer advice over in the detailing section, but i quit that after i got flamed too many times for not declaring Zaino the best product that there is to take care of your car with, so i quit that. if you guys ever have any questions, feel free to ask me.

I have a similar problem:

There is hard water spotson the windshield. It does not show up if the windshield is dry. If it is rainnng and I use the wipers, all what I see is water spots marks and not a clean windshield.

I tried, a Pro Bug and Tar remover, steel wool, Pro Glass cleaner. Nothing worked.

If you could help I would appreciate it.

Nashua.

Regular Zymol paint cleaner and elbow grease always worked for me. On the windshield, I use steel wool.
