horsepower ?

i read in a post awhile back that a 2.3 (5 spd.)with headers, intake, and exhaust would be enough to keep up with a stock 3.0, possibly even beat it. is this really the case, or is someone talking out of their ass? im just thinking this because even though a 2.3 has about a 200 lb. weight advantage, the 3.0 has a 50 h.p. and 40 lb./ft. advantage. i can agree that maybe the modded 2.3 could beat it off the line because of the weight and because it's a stick, but really now.... beat it in the 1/4 mile??? i've driven a 3.0 accord coupe, and they just feel a hell of alot quicker than my 2.3. sorry if i'm just stating the obvious here... my question is, what kind of horsepower gains can be expected from a cold air intake, headers, and a cat-back exhaust?? also, how much horsepower does a stock 2.3 have at the wheels (approx) and what do you think those mods i listed above would add?

I JUST WANNA BEAT A 3.0 WITHOUT SPENDING A FRIGGEN FORTUNE!!!!

the 2.3cl may have less horsepower but you also have to take into account if it is a 5spd or not. The 3.0 loses a lot more hp through the tranny than the 5 spds do.

My stock CL ran a 15.8 and Bogdan's CL ran the same last summer and he has the 2.3 with I/H/E so you can keep up with a stock 3.0 with all of your goodies and a slick driver in the seat of the modded 2.3.

Any doubters? Try it yourself then!

Past 1/4 mile or rolling race, even if the 3.0 was stock and the 2.3 had i/h/e/etc **less of juice and boost** the 3.0 is gonna win. Up top displacement counts alot more.

Personally I tink tat it comes down to the launch in the quearter mile. Because you can ask CJ., acura3.0cl, he ran just 1 tenth faster than my car when I jsut had an intake and he had an intake, and exhaust.

Like I said I think it comes down to the launch in the quarter mile.

Now with a good launch, the 3.0 cl will usually win in the quarter mile, unless the 2.3/2.2 is modded out the ass.

I have a 2.3, e/i/h, and raced my friends dads 3.0 stock. I had a decent launch, and had him all the way till 65-70, then he pulled away pretty good. By 90 he was a car and a half ahead, then I just braked because the gap was getting bigger and bigger. I do have 18"s so my car is kinda tough to launch perfect. (wheelhop)

If I had my 16"s on I know I could launch alot better, and I probably would have taken him till 85-90. After that it's pretty hopeless though.
