HKS Prototype Twin Charger ?

Anyone heard anything about this? Supposedly its both turbo AND supercharged.

so it's a belt-driven turbo?

i'm not sure that i can understand the physics of that one

but if it's a belt driven turbo, then what happens to the exhaust gasses that expel faster than the fins let them?

The Meguiar's Integra Type R has this installed. I think that would be SOOOOO tight. High boost without turbo lag. I'm just curious how it would work. Do they alternate activity...or work in parallel?

I thought I remember a few years ago someone put a supercharger and a turbo on a car. I was like on a Ferrari or Vector they tried, not sure. It had the supercharger for low rpm's and then it would be bypassed when the turbo built up enough boost at high rpm's. I don't see why you could not have a twin blown car. One belt fed and the other exhaust.

Superchargers run off the crankshaft, usually two or three vanes that compress air and force it into the motor. turbochargers are exhaust driven hence the double snail shell appearance, exhaust gas turns vanes on its side, spins vanes on intake side and forces in air. thats why turbos lag you're waiting on exhaust pressure at low throttle. Having both is usually impractical because of long tubing required for both systems to integrate kill throttle response and the logistical tuning nightmare. Seen that shit on a lotta show cars though. In other words if it don't go, chrome it!

I think they use turbo's and supercharger's together on rally cars for hill climbs and things of that sort. The supercharger for low rpm's and turbo for higher rpm's. I don't really know much about this, it's just what I saw on tv.
