The damn check engine light came on @ like 99,026 miles....its been running fine and still is..did this happen to anyone else??
I am already scheduled for a service at the end of the month (bonus time)..just worried about driving a lot until then.

lol on the odometer you;ll see a black little thing right next to the Zero on the speedometer stick you key in there and you;ll be set till you tune up

well is the car acting up?? do u feel any difference in the way it starts or runs, if not just wait till the end of the month or go to autozone they will read what code it is and tell you wats wrong. free of charge

Car is running fine..I only asked because my last 2 cars did the same thing..check eng light came on right around 100k....and when i went to the dealer there was nothing wrong...just some kind of manufacturer's trick to get you into the dealership......

I just rescently bought a 97 2.2. I took it to the dealer to see if there were any outstanding recalls that needed to be done. The service rep said there were no recalls and asked the mileage. He said that I was entitled to a free tune-up and EGR cleaning. The key word was the "check engine light". He mentioned a technical service buletin, and said to bring it in and mention the CE light. He started to say "they know there is a problem....then back peddled and didn't want to call it a problem. I don't know if the same applies to the V6, but it may be worth a try.

everytime my Check Engine light comes on, i take it to Auto Zone..they will check it for free....if u take it to Pep Boys..they charge like $60-80 to check it.. and once they tell u what it is, ask them to print the code out w/ the explanation of ur problem.. so then u know and can call the dealership and they know what the prob is..that way u dont pay alot for the dealer to check the prob, and charge u up the azzzzzzz!!!! good luck..

Check to make sure the gas cap is securely fastened. If that doesn't work (and it probably won't) try replacing the O2 sensor & check the air filter. Check engine is usually emissions related so I'd start there. Also you might want to pull the plugs and replace if you haven't yet. You may not pass an emissions inspection but otherwise you're probably ok.

There was a recall on the check engine light. You can go to the dealer and get it done for free.

Have you done the egr recall? A car with that many miles usually needs to get the manifold and egr cleaned out. I had to do it and my car has less miles.

i would disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple minutes hook it back up...and then go from there. If the light stays on bring it in...if it shuts off you are good...if there is a problem it will come back on....

have you changed the timing belt yet? according to the dealer, the timing belt needs to be changed at 90k.
