Highflow cat?
I got a magnaflow one for $70, but it throws codes, as yours probably will. Buy an o2 simulator along with your cat.
You really will not notice a difference, even if you get a full exhaust on a 2.2. I should know.

you'll lose all your performance because you won't be able to pass smog and be illegal to drive. taking out the whole cat converter means no filter for the exhaust, meaning restriction for air flow, meaning more performance. But your car will be loud as helll, and cops will be on your car's ass in 1minute.

Random Tech makes a high flow cat with stainless steel body. It's a 300 cell cat with a ceramic substrate. On some of the Acura's we have had to use an 02 extension too but I'm not certain about your car. The cat and hardware kit is $250 shipped to the cont US
I wonder which cat would offer the least resistance, the magnaflow, or the catco? I'm also looking for high flow cats for my 98 3.0 CL, as well as 3" piping with magnaflow exhaust. Would the pipe have to narrow to 2.25" to connect to it? Or can you get a cat with different a diameter outlet?
Yeah man, that's ridiculous unless you're running with a turbo setup.
Hm well, my 2.2L came with a 2" exhaust stock - upgrade to 2.25" is best on the 2.2
I'm almost positive the 3.0 comes with a 2.25" - upgrade to 2.5" is best on the 3.0
...wait for more responses to make that official.
And you can absolutely get cat's with different sized inlets and outlets.

@ MoSp33d, awesome, saw some pics of other 1st gen cls with dual exhaust on here a little earlier, looked awesome as I'm sure yours does.
Yeah cheaper. But I talked to a couple of mechanics while looking into this, and they said it wouldn't last very long with the pipes they would use, maybe 3 years or so. Whereas some of those kits use high-grade stainless steel that will last a really long time. I guess it's rare for a shop around here to carry quality steel like that, then again where I'm at it is pretty rural and isolated.
maybe im missing something.. when under my car i noticed what i thought was a stock resonator prior to the rear axle directly in the middle of the car? and i have a glasspack muffler..
I come from the BMW world where my 528i had 3 inline resonators...?
