I got a magnaflow one for $70, but it throws codes, as yours probably will. Buy an o2 simulator along with your cat.

You really will not notice a difference, even if you get a full exhaust on a 2.2. I should know.

^its a 2.3 judging by his username. probly a 98.

If you took out the Cat completely, would that cause a loss in performance?

you'll lose all your performance because you won't be able to pass smog and be illegal to drive. taking out the whole cat converter means no filter for the exhaust, meaning restriction for air flow, meaning more performance. But your car will be loud as helll, and cops will be on your car's ass in 1minute.

their universal cat convertors don't come with bungs as I recall. I brought it to a local shop and they welded a bung onto it. was very easy.

Random Tech makes a high flow cat with stainless steel body. It's a 300 cell cat with a ceramic substrate. On some of the Acura's we have had to use an 02 extension too but I'm not certain about your car. The cat and hardware kit is $250 shipped to the cont US

I wonder which cat would offer the least resistance, the magnaflow, or the catco? I'm also looking for high flow cats for my 98 3.0 CL, as well as 3" piping with magnaflow exhaust. Would the pipe have to narrow to 2.25" to connect to it? Or can you get a cat with different a diameter outlet?

Is that overkill? I am still learning a lot... What is a good diameter?

Yeah man, that's ridiculous unless you're running with a turbo setup.

Hm well, my 2.2L came with a 2" exhaust stock - upgrade to 2.25" is best on the 2.2
I'm almost positive the 3.0 comes with a 2.25" - upgrade to 2.5" is best on the 3.0
...wait for more responses to make that official.

And you can absolutely get cat's with different sized inlets and outlets.

Oh ok sweet. Cause all the magnaflow kits I found for old accords decreased to 2.25 to connect to the cat, and I don't really want that. I guess either of those two cats posted above would be freer flowing than stock. Would they work with the 3.0 though?

@ MoSp33d, awesome, saw some pics of other 1st gen cls with dual exhaust on here a little earlier, looked awesome as I'm sure yours does.

screw cats. Mine is useless. Just go straight piping and get an o2 simulator. That's what i'm going to do.

yes, it'd been done. with performance gains. On an H22 of course.

I wouldn't bother with an exhaust on an 2.x. just get a muffler for sound.

I can't find any 2.5" piping in any exhaust kits for 94-97 accords... Did everyone just do custom piping?

From what i've seen, custom is usually cheaper than a bolt on kit.

Yeah cheaper. But I talked to a couple of mechanics while looking into this, and they said it wouldn't last very long with the pipes they would use, maybe 3 years or so. Whereas some of those kits use high-grade stainless steel that will last a really long time. I guess it's rare for a shop around here to carry quality steel like that, then again where I'm at it is pretty rural and isolated.
