HID kits

Hey, I am looking to get an HID kit for my low beams because the Silverstars continue to go out.

I found them at www.xenoneyes.com for 129.99 with shipping.
And have 2 coupon codes to share:
xmas416 gives you free 3 year warranty, but if you dont add the warranty to your shopping cart you just get $34 off.
ntpog gives you free shipping.. kinda pointless when you can get 34 dollars off.

BUT I cant decide what temp to get. I really like the blue look but not sure if I want it as blue as the 12000k. Any suggestions

you should be able to just buy new bulbs and the wires that connect to the ballast. what K did you get?

usually spam ppl aren't that smart, they just whore there website as many times as they can, but maybe they are getting smarter and we're all screwed

in either sense the hid topic has been discussed already, theres a mulitple page thread here somewhere with info and pics

i myself purchased a 4300k kit as they have the most light output and are basically white, so no chance of getting a ticket for them

EDIT: here you go

^ya that is weird, but they mostly all look the same anyways, the kit that i bought i'm pretty sure they stole the instructions from another company and tried to erase the copywright watermark from it
btw what are you doing for the HID kit, don't you need the d2 bulb type or whatever for the projectors? then you would need to do some custom wiring to get that to work? atleast that's what i thought you had to do... but i'm prolly wrong
oh and start a thread about your projectors already, quit putting all those pics in the project thread

Yeah, I need the D2S bulbs and they sell plug-and-play D2S HID kits. If you click "Products" on that page, you will see the D2S at the botom of the drop menu under "Bulb Type". There is no way I would ever purchace anything that has no pictures of the said product. If you are seriously poor and can't afford the Kaizen HID kit, then I'd say go here: http://www.vvme.com/product/detail-20023.html

ism. I'm going 6000k.

Okay everybody, it's time for me to make a confession...
I bought these cheap-o bulbs about two months ago to see just how ghetto they were. For around $66 shipping from Hong Kong (took little over a week) I got a pair of 6000K HIDs. Long story short - - They work very well. They're very bright, and I haven't had a single problem with them over the past two months. My brother ordered a pair of HIDs from another site for his Mk3 GTi at around twice the price and they are just as bright.

The ballasts may make Rosie O'Donnell look like Jessica Alba, but the cheap bastards work.

For now.

and

i had 35w 4300 ddms in my car for over a year before just recently going retro, worked very well for a kit; i'm actually still running their ballasts with the new mdx optics .
the 4300 is a bit yellow at first, but matures to a perfect hid white after so many hours. 5 or 6K is just sacrificing output for some blue, imho.
i just put 55w 4300k ddm in my girl's car, and they are just insane for a kit.
ddm prices are rockbottom as well; their sale is suspended right now, but supposed to resume soon. warranty is for life, but i hear it is a hassle with shipping and all. ddm has very cheap & decent quality replacement parts to take advantage of, though.
best luck.

I don't recommend you buy the kit from www.vvme.com because you could run into a lot of problems if you are unlucky. I've bought 4 kits from there and they will not send you a new pair if it arrived at your door defective. One kit had a defective ballast, one kit they mixed up the color temps, and I had the last one held up at US Customs. They refuse to send you a new one unless you ship your original ones back to them which could be very costly to Hong Kong, China. You might as well order a new one for $66.

Edit: I think 5000k is the perfect color, pure white baby!

also my buddy ordered a kit from them a month before me, and he had the same experience as me. maybe you're just unlucky

oh and i'm pretty sure 4300k is pure white

they're legit (like i said, i just put 55w ddms from them in my girl's car like 2 weeks ago -- which are siiick btw), but like the site says, their sale prices aren't in effect right now (when you check out, they ask to adjust the price like +5 or 10 bucks or whatever) and also shipping is slow -- i'm still waiting for tracking on an apexcone kit i ordered right before x-mas; just a heads up.

HID's just a little info.......4300 will give you the most output and lumens, this is what you are looking for to get the most visibility, once you go up loike 5k or 6k you will lose your output a lot.

again, HID's are not enough, get projectors! 10x's the visibility and the output will be 10x's more

see here........my color too, I have color modded the shield to get more blues

I am working on this setup for my 2004 yukon for my wife. I want her to drive safely at night and I am using RX330 projectors with a custom shield shaved down to get teals, purples and blues!!! in a Denali housing.

^ i woulda got it from that ddm site for that price, cuz then you coulda got slim ballasts instead. and it looks like the same kits that vvme.com sells for $41 plus twenty-something for shipping. but to each their own, and the important thing is that you are getting HID's and not silverstars or crap like that

^Silverstars are GREAT for people that arn't going willing to spend alot of money on HIDs. I got Silverstar Ultras for my first mod the month I got the car and they have lasted since last christmas. I do ALOT of night time driving too. (another reason I decited to retrofit) Compared to stock, those Silverstars are a great way to brighten the road with brighter and cleaner light than the OEM soft white.

Ok, well I am returning my HID's from xenoneyes.com because I found a 55w kit from Sharphid.

The kit I am getting is a Apexcone 55w kit, but I have seen a few people dogging on Apexcone's reliability.

Someone help me IDK what to do?!?! Should I keep the 35w 8000k kit from xenoneyes.com, or keep the Apexcone 55w 8000k kit?

You gotta remember, ultimately you get what you pay for. Apexcone + DDM are also chinese kits, if I'm not mistaken. FWIW, I've seen far more people get their money's worth from them than not. My personal experience is they're pretty solid; I bought mine back when they were like $110, and I still feel like I got my $ out of them.

And IMHO, if one is going to spend =>$200 on a more expensive kit, you're much better off sourcing together a proper OEM retro, and getting 10x better results for relatively a few more dollars.

also you would be better off with a OEM kit off ebay, search for Denso ballast or Matsushita ballast. I have a Mats Gen 3 ballasts and I like them since I will install behind the headlight in my yukon but I will be buying some Denso slim ballasts since I will put them up under the light to protect from rain and elements.

just FYI

you get what you pay for, 50 more bucks and you can get new OEM bulbs and good ballasts.

u r totally right... no need to buy that kind of Philips oem hid kit with 200 or 300 bucks...

vvme hid also work stably with warranty but cheap stuff..if you are the lucky one and get your vvme hid kit installed correctly

Wow you brought up a thread nearly 2 years old. There are many kits that are cheap and also quality. I get my kits from my supplier for under 40 shipped. But of coarse then I mark up prices and resell. I only say my prices as I dont sell to ppl here.
