you are bypassing the catalytic converter which is pretty much illegal in all states. as for the HP gains I don't really know, I'm sure you might get a few since you are making it easier for the exhaust to exit the vehicle

That is pure . All that is doing is taking off your cat-illegal and detrimental to the environment. There is no way it will gain 10+ hp. you'd be lucky to get 3 hp from removing the cat. That should not be installed on any car.

The problems u get from this will not outweight the pluses from it. It will make ur car smell a bit like rotten eggs, fail inspection, and maybe get some tickets if cops ever check ur car. The cops thing depends on how lazy or if they care or not. I would not put that on unless u racing. The catalytic convertor is there to burn off/filter harmful pollution that doesn't get burned off. If you want to improve flow get a high flow cat convertor. I dunno if you have exhaust and intake so it might not matter.

Detrimental to the environment? Boy is that an overstatement. Why the fuck do you think race cars dont run cats. YOU GAIN HORSEPOWER! Mabey not 10+, but it's still a gain. Catalitic converters are stupid pieces of shit that truthfully dont do alot to help any environment. Take a ride into L. A. you will find that out real quick. The only thing on the highway that is detrimental to the environment is busses and semi's. The polar ice caps arent going to melt, and the ozone layer isnt going to dissapear if some one wants to remove their cat. This is a fucking car forum. Performance or not this tree hugging babble is rediculous.

rrrrright. The fact that LA had 3,694,820 people living there alone in 2000 ( http://www.losangelesalmanac.com/top...ion/po24la.htm ) has NOTHING to do with the pollution.... don't be a jerk about what I said. Not running on a cat DOES pollute the environment. That's why the government makes car companies put them on. (Racing is a sport that is NOT done on govt funded roads thus they are not held to the same laws). If cats didn't help the environment then car manufactures wouldn't put them on. I understand this is a car forum, but without the earth and the ozone we wouldn't be here to share knowledge and other things with each other would we?

I never said that removing your cat wouldn't put more pollution in the environment, and come on, do you really think that car manufacturers give a flying fuck about the environment. They put cats on because the gov. makes them do so. The real big difference in removing the cat is the hellatious sound Hondas make without it. Especialy in Vtec. It sure insnt the polution factor though. It sure the hell isnt DETRIMENTAL and all that b.s.
P.S. I have a Mugen header on my CL. The downpipe runs down, under and right past where the cat should be. I love it. Am I concerned about the environment? Hey theres people doing worse thing to this world than I will ever do. Even if I set my car on fire! Will I burn in hell because of it? I sure hope so.

Well that is a fantastic mentality to have... I'm sure glad everyone doesn’t think the way you do, because then there would be nothing nice in this world. I for one will be leaving my cat on my car. The extra three hp isn't worth it to me. And I've heard my car with headers down from the exhaust manifold. I had to drive it to a muffler shop to weld the headers to the cat because the headers had backwards bolt patterns. It sounded like shit. So do what pleases you, that's fine. Don’t bother to take into consideration the trillion plus living creatures that you share the earth with.

Well in that case you better sell your CL and buy one of those battery powered cars. Better for the environment.
