HEY SOHCer

Have you run your car at the track yet? I'm just wondering what time you get from those mods you have. I would've done them as well, but I heard the gains were minimal so I didn't even bother. I have everything u have minus ignition stuff and pullies. I have denso iridium spark plugs instead of your bosches.

Oh yea... I'm getting my second set of rims at the end of the month. This time they're show wheels not light ones.

Nope. I live amongst the peanut fields and the only import racing I've heard of is in Hotlanta. I'd be happy to find a dyno, let alone someone to race.

BTW, the high flow cats installed.

I'll let you know if I find a dyno close by. Rumors are theres one about 45 minutes away. Any idea of the stock wheel hp on the 97 2.2?

WHP is usually yields a 20-30% hp loss than hp at the flywheel.

For $80 they aren't worth it.

It's not that I don't like the plugs... I just wish they were cheaper. I was runnin 15.9 b4 the plugs... now i'm at a 15.8. Go figure.. not sure.. could've been the weather ... or the fact that I took the tool box out of the car

See my site for specifics:
http://www.syrupcity.net/~niedejb/index.html

Note the differences in the pics of the inner diameter of boththe new and the stock cat (surprised i could even drive on the other one!)

Overall well worth the $100. Results similar to a header add on (~2-4 horsepower gain). Improved throttle response and noticeable gain in the vtec range. Idles a tad better.

Negatives: Those three damn bolts on the exit side of the stock cat turned this into a 5 hour project. Took at most an hour after I got the old one out. If you know someone who can do exhaust work and doesnt mind totally disabling this part of your emission control its probably worth paying them to do it. I asked around here and no one would touch a cat unless I replaced it with an OEM (and we dont have emission inspections).

Exhaust sounds different now (surprise!). Definately not louder, just a different tone. I expected 100 more db but just sounds a little less deep.

Smells. Still smells like a new exhaust component. Looked for leaks and couldnt find any so hope it becomes "seasoned" after awhile and goes away. It may be the uncatalyzed exhaust gases and may be here to stay.

Since the o2 sensor overide worked with the stock cat and all the hardware is new, I can have everything back to stock in ~1 hour if I choose to in the future.

Let me know if this and the site dont answer your questions.
