Help!! (GAS MILEAGE)
Help!! (GAS MILEAGE)
Alright, Lately, my gas mileage has been decreasing. When i bought the car, I use like Silver Type Gas (89 Octane) would get anywhere from 220 to 250 MPTank. My Car is stock. However, now as time has gone on, I'm down to averaging like 150-180 MPTank. What the F is wrong with my car? Is it just the weather, am I flipping out? Someone help me!
please do not say "MILES PER TANK"-- because that is very subjective(where do you stop? quarter tank left, when the light comes on... WHEN?), take the 5 seconds to get a reciept at the gas station and figure out what your MILES PER GALLON IS
some people think they have really shitty mileagle, but they are just filling up earlier then everyone else.

I switched from 93 to 89 oct. My milage stayed the same but my car seemed to run better. I believe that the motors were designed to be run with 89 oct fuel. (plus the 89 is cheaper too).
I'm getting about 320 per tank as well.

here we go again :P
your gas mileage is highly dependent on how you drive. are you driving more hwy than city now? do you have a lead right foot, etc.
if everything seems the same, maybe it's time to change your air filter and fuel filter if you haven't done that in a long while.
also check your tire pressure. low pressure means more contact surface means higher friction.
ummm... whatelse?
the correct way to have a good judgement about your gasmilage is by miles per gallon and not how far you can go in 1 tank. next time rest your tripometer to zero when you fill up, and take notes of how much gas you put in the next time. than you divde the milage to the gallon and you'll get the mpg.
I average 17-16 mpg in all city driving. when i do go back to the big city, the mixed hwy and local driving gets me about 21-22. when i'm doing road trips, i can get as much as 28 if i'm using the cruise control.
so the way you drive makes a big difference

I get 20 mpg (3.0CL).
This is running 93 octane every day (which lowers gas mileage itself), nitrous plugs (2 heat ranges cooler than stock--which also kills gas mileage), spraying nitrous (on occasion--definitely kills gas mileage), intake, headers, exhaust, Helix Power Tower, and 18" rims.
Most everyone should be getting better mileage than me!

i get about 24 miles to the gallon. i drive w/ my foot in its ass all the time. then again im mostly stock. except intake and plug wires. accually after i put the 10.3mm wires on i got a noticible gain in mpg. almost 2
Why are you guys using 89/91/93 octane (except Rick
)? That's silly. Unless your car is knocking (where you really have other problems anyway), you should only use 87. All of our cars were designed to run on it, there is no reason to use anything else - all it will do is hurt your mileage. You are NOT treating your engine or blah blah blah.

i get about 250-280 per tank
i have a lead foot though but i use a fuel injector cleaner about once every 5000 miles
on the freeway sometimes i can get up to 25 mpg but in town its about 19-20 mpg
someone also i remember on here said something about the temputure thermastat decreased his gas milage and when he replaeed it it fixed the problem, im not to sure on the exact thing he replaced

So what do you guys reccommend that I do? I fill up when i get to like 1/8 tank left, and still only get like 180... i basically do all city driving.. still that comes out to be 13 MPG which is sitll bad... I use 89 Octane, usually when i accel i hit like 3500 RPM. Shuold i try fuel injector cleaner? like what would that do to try and solve my problem. HELp MEEEEEEEEee
Check your air filter, use 87 gas, maybe change your fuel filter if its been more than 20,000 since you last did it. You could take your car to a dealer and have them check your egr/fuel injectors/ etc. to see if they can spot any underlying problems. Dunno what else to say.
