Hey guys something stranged happened yesterday to my car while i was trying to park. i was backing into a parking space and when i changed from D4 to reverse i noticed the rpms kicking up and down, it would go up to about 2.5rpms then back down to 1rpms then back up to 2.5 again. it was even doing this while i was in park. it was like the car was reving on its own and i dont know why it was doing this. i shut the car down and waited a couple of minutes then restarted it and it wasnt doing it anymore but should i be worried about this? thanks for any help

 

Check the ecu for codes, You may have a problem with the throttle body or the IAC. Look for the wieeeerrrd idle post in this forum. wilp99 knows more about this.

 

yea its the iac. idle air control valve. u got a 2.x or 3.0? either way its attatched to the throttle body. replace it cause it puts alot of stress on your tranny when its in drive, cause its always giving gas... kind of like power braking it, but your foot is not on the gas.
