Heated Mirror Switch

I have an 1998 3.0 CL with 112K, and the heated mirror switch light only stays on while holding the button down. The dealership wants $120.00 for a new switch, uninstalled. Has anyone else had this problem with their heated mirror switch? I am really suprised that this switch is already worn out considering that it is probably the least most used switch in the car. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I've never tried my switch before, since I park in the garage my mirrors never need to be heated....Maybe I should see if it does the same thing. I think I remember that the button was sticky on the outside a little bit, making some resistance to push the button.

Also, sorry to jack the thread, but the window switches etc dont' have LED's....is there any way to connect LED's to the heated mirror switch? So that you have to turn on the heated mirrors for the LED's to activate under the window switch etc...It gets kind of annoying at night since I have to feel for the right switch at times.

If the light is not on it will not emit heat; therefore, I have to hold the button down until the ice melts.

After reading this post I checked mine again.
Now the light doesn't go on at all, even if I hold down the switch.

Since my car is garaged I never used it anyway.

Same thing happened to mine a week ago!!

My switch only worked if i held it down, there is obviously something wrong with the design of the switch.

Now if I hold it down the light does not even come on and they don't work!

i was thinking of ripping it out and checking the contact.
