We all know how scarce and presious Acura CL information is. Searching the net using using very broad terms and sorting though tons of shit is the only way to find anything for typing "Acura CL" with any specific topic will result in no results. Acura-CL.com is undoubedly the only real source of good information. I cant say that I have spent more than a few seconds outside of the 1st gen forum in my thirst of accurate information pertaining to my car. This is where I see a huge problem. Not every one who joins this site is already a seasoned CL modder. I have been on this site since last thanksgiving. I know when Ifirst joined I posted my share of questions that every person before me has heard a thousand times. Now I too get agrivated seeing the same repeated (but neverless usefull to someone) posts. How many people get sick of typing the same shit over and over and say just use the search button? I personally think the search button sucks. Even though the nature of fourms is discussion, its a pain in the ass to sort the actual info you are interested in from the BSing; even then it hard to determine what is factual.

We should have our own sub-forums (audio, security, electrical, engine, wheels, body, etc) to organize all of this great information. Then all of the FAQs, wire diagrams, common DIYs can be locked and stickied in the correct forum. become more resourcefull.

and you are not a veteran, there has been sub forums before and no one liked it at all

thats why we have this format, and its up to soopa and his staf to decide not us

you have not got agrevated at all man, you have not been on here that long, i have been on here for a couple of years now and i have seen my far share of repost, after reposts. use our search button it is helpful and if you look at the post and then look all the way across you can see where it was posts, how many responses and more info on the post, telling you its probably a good post to look at with more posts than most

the mewbie thread has links to all the items you have listed and soopa will not make a seperate forum for audio and others that you have listed since there is already one, think about it, if you sorted all of them, it would take you months to do since there is probably over 25g posts in our system and then to have soopa go through them all and sort them accordingly, IDTS it wont happen

CLpower is working on a new newbie thread so that you dont have to do any work, newbies are the ones that post this reposts and this thread that you have started has been discussed over a month or so ago and most members said they do not and will not like sub forums since it will make things more difficult

97Acura3.0CL: you need to chill dude, I definately did not imply I was a vet, yes I am fairly new to this site, I am just trying to look at things from both points of view. I know of the noob thread you are referring to, but dont see it anywhere obvious, is there anyway to actually find this basic information with out searching.... searching is good for new ideas, but i dont want to read though 2nd gen posts if im looking for the color codes for first gen stereo, i dont see how a lil orginization will hurt things

from a n00b and a google junkie...97Acura3.0cl is dead on...I just hopped on this site but I find the answers to alot of these threads in a few minutes on google...search dude...plus yeah chage scares me

 

we tried subforums and it got absolutely zero play and everyone wanted to go back to the way it is now.

yeah I know.... but then you dont get any results from the the other forums which still have 1st gen info.....

im not trying to trash talk this site, just dont think people should have to search for reference materials

and of course people should have to search to reference materials Even if we have subforums it's not like everything they need is going to be on the front page.


As I said before, sub forums have been tried and it was a general consensus that they be banished for first gens. If you are to lazy to use the search function post the question up and it will be answered.

 

alright, I wasnt looking to start a fight here with people, the title of this thread does ask if this was considered, instead of getting a simple answer like "yes it didnt work well so we got rid of it", I get shit for asking.... I will keep my mouth shut

I don't see anyone trying to start a fight with you . I don't know how the answers we gave could be any simplier. You asked and we said we did it and the consensus was to bring it back to what it is now. You say that someone shouldn't have to search for info, of course they should. Even if we did have these subforums there are still going to be multiple pages of info and you are still going to have to search for the info you need.

if you searched for it and looked to see if someone has talked about this before it has and it has never worked
